RETRO GAMEPLAY ¡Twisted Metal 4! Tournament [Esp/Eng]

Hace un par de semanas traje a la comunidad "Vigilante 8 (2nd Offense)" como parte de los acostumbrados Retro Gameplay, un juego de batallas vehiculares bastante interesante que dio pie a que me adentrara un poco mas en ese género de videojuegos, de hecho @lospapasdeji me sugirió que trajera Twisted Metal y es precisamente lo que estoy haciendo, debo decir que su recomendación fue muy acertada.

Este juego fue lanzado en año 1999 para PlayStation y fue desarrollado por 989 Studios, como ya mencioné va de batallas vehiculares y tiene su lugar en el olimpo de los videojuegos, recuerdo que era muy adictivo para muchos de mis amigos pero por lo general yo estaba jugando futbol o algún Need For Speed.

A couple of weeks ago I brought to the community "Vigilante 8 (2nd Offense)" as part of the usual Retro Gameplay, a very interesting game of vehicular battles that gave me the opportunity to go a little deeper into this genre of video games, in fact @lospapasdeji suggested me to bring Twisted Metal and that's precisely what I'm doing, I must say that his recommendation was very accurate.

This game was released in 1999 for PlayStation and was developed by 989 Studios, as I mentioned it is about vehicular battles and has its place in the Olympus of video games, I remember it was very addictive for many of my friends but usually I was playing soccer or some Need For Speed.

El juego solo tiene dos modalidades, el "Tournament", que es el que jugué y que trata de batallar todos contra todos hasta llegar al jefe; y "Deathmatch" que es básicamente un uno contra uno.

The game only has two modes, the "Tournament", which is the one I played and which is about battling everyone against everyone until you reach the boss; and "Deathmatch" which is basically one on one.

Existe una variedad interesante de vehículos que hacen que tu elección sea mas fácil, a mi en lo particular me llamó la atención "Mr. Zombie" ya que me pareció bastante equilibrado.

There is an interesting variety of vehicles that make your choice easier, to me in particular "Mr. Zombie" caught my attention because it seemed to me quite balanced.

El primer escenario de la modalidad Torneo lleva por nombre "Construction Yard" y como su nombre lo dice consta de un terreno aparentemente baldío con algunas grúas y elementos típicos de obras constructoras; debo decir que este escenario de presta positivamente para la dinámica del juego.

The first scenario of the Tournament mode is called "Construction Yard" and as its name says it consists of an apparently wasteland with some cranes and typical elements of construction works; I must say that this scenario lends itself positively to the dynamics of the game.

Arranqué el juego probando inmediatamente la conducción del vehículo y las armas disponibles, como era de esperarse, cuenta con un arma genérica que no hace mayor daño; sin duda la clave es buscar los diferentes ítems que se encuentran distribuidos por todo el escenario los cuales te otorgan armas mucho mas destructivas.

I started the game immediately testing the driving of the vehicle and the available weapons, as expected, it has a generic weapon that does not do much damage; undoubtedly the key is to look for the different items that are distributed throughout the stage which give you much more destructive weapons.

Este ítem de medicina me salvó la vida en un momento bastante delicado, no me estaba yendo nada bien y me sirvió para rearmar mi mente y estrategia de ataque, sin duda fue importante para lo que vino luego.

This medicine item saved my life in a very delicate moment, I was not doing well at all and it helped me to rearm my mind and attack strategy, it was undoubtedly important for what came next.

Un elemento interesante de este juego son estos portales en forma de remolino que te trasportan a otros lugares del escenario, son un buen recurso cuando estas a punto de morir y necesitas medicina o huir de una emboscada; este elemento te puede jugar a favor y también en contra cuando tienes ventaja.

An interesting element of this game are these portals in the form of a whirlpool that transport you to other parts of the stage, they are a good resource when you are about to die and you need medicine or to escape from an ambush; this element can play in your favor and also against you when you have an advantage.

La batalla final fue contra el Crusher, debo decir que por mi inexperiencia pensé que no lo lograría pero parece que supe manejarlo bien, me armé de paciencia y traté de pensar un poco mas mis jugadas. Fue un fuerte rival, tenía una especie de tenazas que si te agarraba te quitaba bastante vida; creo que por su tamaño era un poco lento y supe jugar con eso.

The final battle was against the Crusher, I must say that because of my inexperience I thought I would not make it but it seems that I knew how to handle it well, I was patient and tried to think a little more about my moves. He was a strong opponent, he had a kind of pincers that if he grabbed you he took a lot of life; I think that because of his size he was a little slow and I knew how to play with that.

Las impresiones son bastante positivas, sin duda es mejor que Vigilante 8 y por mucho, es mas divertido, dinámico, fácil en cuanto a la jugabilidad y gráficos. La música es genial y ayuda con el frenetismos del juego, sin duda encontraron una excelente banda sonora.

The impressions are quite positive, it is certainly better than Vigilante 8 and by far, it is more fun, dynamic, easy in terms of gameplay and graphics. The music is great and helps with the freneticism of the game, no doubt they found an excellent soundtrack.
