If there is a song to which we have respect for what it is and what it represents, it is precisely "Caballo Viejo", in fact we meditated a lot if we should do this cover because we had the feeling or concern that maybe we were not up to the demand, it is a very important song and it deserves that the tributes that are paid to it are worthy. The truth is that we do not know to what extent this version we are doing is right or wrong, but it is you who listen to us who will tell us; we in particular make an effort and try to do our best.

This week's theme is called "Local Tradition" and that is precisely the reason why we chose this song, if we talk about traditional music of Venezuela (our country of origin) then this composition of Simón Díaz must be considered a bastion as well as many others of this distinguished figure of Creole music; Tío Simón is undoubtedly synonymous of Venezuelan folklore.

This song is part of the album "Golpe y Pasaje: Caballo Viejo" which was released in 1980; as far as we know it has more than 200 versions made by different artists of international fame and is translated into at least 12 languages, this undoubtedly positions it as an invaluable piece of world music.

Si existe una canción a la cual le tenemos respeto por lo que es y representa es precisamente "Caballo Viejo", de hecho meditamos mucho si debíamos hacer este cover ya que teníamos el sentimiento o inquietud de quizá no estar a la altura de la exigencia, es una canción muy importante y merece que los tributos que se le rindan sean dignos. La verdad no sabemos hasta que punto esta bien o esta mal esta versión que estamos realizando, pero son ustedes quienes nos escuchan los que nos lo dirán; nosotros en lo particular nos esforzamos y tratamos de hacerlo lo mejor posible.

La temática de esta semana lleva por nombre "Tradición Local" y es ese precisamente el motivo por el cual elegimos esta canción, si hablamos de música tradicional de Venezuela (Nuestro país de origen) entonces esta composición de Simón Díaz debe ser considerada baluarte así como muchas otras de esta figura insigne de la música criolla; el Tío Simón es sin duda sinónimo de folklore venezolano.

Esta canción forma parte del disco "Golpe y Pasaje: Caballo Viejo" que fue lanzado en el año 1980; por lo que sabemos cuenta con mas de 200 versiones realizadas por distintos artistas de fama internacional y esta traducida a al menos 12 idiomas, esto sin duda la posiciona como una pieza invaluable de música mundial.
