    About :

If I had a time machine, I would take you to 1969. To the last year of that revolutionary decade when social norms about music, clothing, formalities, drugs and sexuality drastically changed. When Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple started to dictate a new rhythm, harmonic and instrumental set of music. When my existence was not even planned in the mind of my parents until next ten years passed. I would take you to that year when Gábor Presser composed a worldwide famous song, Gyöngyhajú lány, for the band Omega.
Wait, what is that weird name? Maybe The Girl With Pearl's Hair sounds more familiar, although the original name in Hungarian is Gyöngyhajú lány. The song was so popular that it was recorded in many other languages. First of all, Omega, made its English version and German version of the song.
I knew of the existence of the Yugoslav version, as a cover by band Griva (Devojka biserne kose) but that is not all. The German band Scorpions covered the song and named it White Dove. Also, the song was covered in Czech Republic (Dívka s perlami ve vlasech), Bulgaria, Lithuania and Polonia (Dziewczyna o perłowych włosach) by band Kult.
The interesting part how do I know about that last version comes from gtg, when one day he mentioned it in AlspaceVR. I was hanging out there a bit with ewkaw when she helped me to learn how to move around. He told that they do sing in Polish, but the way how the singer pronounces the words sounds like Hungarian. It was so strange feeling for me to listen to it, when he shared it 3 days ago, as my mind wanted to hear the Hungarian words instead of the Polish ones. I immediately decided that I will play it at the piano, in my version.
So here it is, although without lyrics as I just play and don't sing. I play it in the way how I have written it down, so there are less repeated parts than in the original version. Of course, I will leave here the Hungarian and the English lyrics. To compare how it sounds in different versions and languages, I will also share those covers.

I hope that you don't mind that I mentioned you gtg and ewkaw, if you don't feel you have to be mentioned here, please let me know and I will edit the post.

    Egyszer a Nap úgy elfáradt
    Elaludt mély zöld tó ölén
    Az embereknek fájt a sötét
    Ő megsajnált, eljött közénk
    Igen, jött egy gyöngyhajú lány
    Álmodtam, vagy igaz talán?
Így lett a föld, az ég
    Zöld meg kék, mint rég
    Igen, jött egy gyöngyhajú lány
    Álmodtam, vagy igaz talán?
    (La, la...)
    A hajnal kelt, ő hazament
    Kék hegy mögé, virág közé
    Kis kék elefánt mesét mesél
    Szép gyöngyhaján alszik a fény
    Igen, él egy gyöngyhajú lány
    Álmodtam, vagy igaz talán?
    Gyöngyhaj azóta rég
    Mély tengerbe él
    Igen, él egy gyöngyhajú lány
    Álmodtam, vagy igaz talán?
    (La, la...)
    Igen, él egy gyöngyhajú lány
    Álmodtam, vagy igaz talán?
    Gyöngyhaj azóta rég
    Mély tengerbe él
    Igen, él egy gyöngyhajú lány
    Álmodtam, vagy igaz talán?
    (La, la...)
    Mikor nagyon egyedül vagy
    Lehull hozzád egy kis csillag
    Hófehér gyöngyök vezessenek
    Mint jó vándort fehér kövek
    Igen, ébredj gyöngyhajú lány
    Álmodtam, vagy igaz talán?
    Ránk vár gyöngye mögött
    Ég és föld között
    Igen, ébredj gyöngyhajú lány
    Álmodtam, vagy igaz talán?
    Ránk vár gyöngye mögött
    Ég és föld között
    Igen, ébredj gyöngyhajú lány
    Álmodtam, vagy igaz talán?
    (La, la...)

Once upon a time, the Sun got tired
Went to sleep on a deep green lake
    People suffered from darkness
As she pitied us, she came to us.
Yes, a Pearl Haired Girl came,
Was it true, or was I dreaming
The earth, and the sky became green and blue again
Yes, a Pearl Haired Girl came
Was it true, or was I dreaming?
    La-la-la…

The Dawn came, and she has left,
Went behind the mountains, and among flowers
A small blue elephant tells a tale
The fact sleeps on her pearl hair
There is a Pearl Haired Girl
Was it true, or was I dreaming?
She lives in the Paradise now

Yes, there is a Pearl Haired Girl,
Was it true, or was I dreaming
    La-la-la (twice)

    When your very lonely
I small star will fall upon you
Snow white pearls will guide you
    As white stones guide wanderers
Yes, a Pearl Haired Girl is calling,
Was it true or was I dreaming?

She waits for us behind her pearls, between the earth and the skies,
Yes, a Pearl Haired Girls is calling,
Was it true, or was I dreaming?
She waits for us behind her pearls, between the earth and the skies,
Yes, a Pearl Haired Girls is calling,
Was it true, or was I dreaming?
    La-la-la
