Greetings, dear Hive Book Club community! It is a pleasure to join this community that I have discovered as a real treasure within Hive. I have always been passionate about reading and I must confess that I am extremely eclectic in my literary preferences; I immerse myself in any genre that manages to captivate me.

Today I want to share with you my enthusiasm for a bestseller that has taken my breath away: "4 Crimes, 4 Powers" by Fermín Mármol León. This work, inspired by four crimes perpetrated in the country, masterfully exposes how certain powers have managed to evade justice.

Siempre he sido apasionada de la lectura y debo confesar que soy sumamente ecléctica en mis preferencias literarias; me sumerjo en cualquier género que logre cautivarme.

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi entusiasmo por un bestseller que me ha dejado sin aliento: "4 Crímenes, 4 Poderes" de Fermín Mármol León. Esta obra, inspirada en cuatro crímenes perpetrados en el país, expone magistralmente cómo ciertos poderes han logrado evadir la justicia.

The events take place between 1961 and 1973, and the author, a police commissioner, sheds light on how the powers that be influence the course of justice. Each of these heinous crimes seems to continue to resonate deep within Venezuelan society, and sadly, the interference of the powers that be in the course of justice continues to be a reality.

Los eventos se desarrollan entre los años 1961 y 1973, y el autor, un comisario de policía, arroja luz sobre cómo los poderes influyen en el curso de la justicia. Cada uno de estos crímenes atroces parece seguir resonando en lo más profundo de la sociedad venezolana, y lamentablemente, la interferencia de los poderes en la justicia sigue siendo una realidad.

The first case, "The Case of the Priest's Sister," moved me deeply because of the inherent ambiguity: it is shocking that an institution that professes love and compassion, such as the church, can manipulate its influence to protect its own, thus deflecting justice. The veiled threat of divine punishment for those who dare to accuse or investigate them adds an additional layer of intrigue and tension.

El primer caso, "El Caso de la Hermana del Sacerdote", me conmovió profundamente debido a la ambigüedad inherente: resulta impactante que una institución que profesa amor y compasión como lo es la iglesia, pueda manipular su influencia para proteger a los suyos, desviando así la justicia. La amenaza velada de un castigo divino para quienes se atrevan a acusarlos o investigarlos añade una capa adicional de intriga y tensión.

"The Case of the Deadly Statuette" immerses us in political power and the murder of Hilda de Rosales at the hands of her husband, a congressman who uses his diplomatic immunity to obstruct police investigations and get away with impunity, despite being the prime suspect in the crime. It is disheartening to see how justice bows to power, allowing those with influence to escape accountability.

"El Caso de la Estatuilla Mortal" nos sumerge en el poder político y en el asesinato de Hilda de Rosales a manos de su esposo, un diputado que utiliza su inmunidad diplomática para obstaculizar las investigaciones policiales y salir impune, a pesar de ser el principal sospechoso del crimen. Es desalentador ver cómo la justicia se pliega ante el poder, permitiendo que aquellos con influencia escapen de la rendición de cuentas.

"The Elevator Crime" highlights military power. This case is especially intriguing, since the main suspect is the victim's husband, an aviation captain who initially confesses to the crime, but then recants, and everything is wrapped up in the hypothesis of a robbery. The obstruction of the investigations by the General Commander of the Air Force contributes to the captain's impunity.

"El Crimen del Ascensor" pone de manifiesto el poder militar. Este caso es especialmente intrigante, ya que el principal sospechoso es el esposo de la víctima, un capitán de la aviación que inicialmente confiesa el crimen, pero luego se retracta, y todo queda envuelto en la hipótesis de un robo. La obstrucción de las investigaciones por parte del Comandante General de la Aviación contribuye a la impunidad del capitán.

The latest case, "The Case of the Kid Kidnapped and Killed Child," known as the Vegas Perez case, is perhaps the most heartbreaking of all. The victim, a child, does not receive justice because of economic power. This case serves as a painful reminder that money can manipulate the course of justice, confirming the adage that "money moves the world." In addition, this case inspired the movie "Crab".

El último caso, "El caso del Niño secuestrado y muerto", conocido como el caso Vegas Pérez, es quizás el más desgarrador de todos. La víctima, un niño, no recibe justicia debido al poder económico. Este caso sirve como un doloroso recordatorio de que el dinero puede manipular el curso de la justicia, confirmando el adagio de que "el dinero mueve al mundo". Además, este caso inspiró la película "Cangrejo".

I have had the pleasure of reading this work at least three times, and each time I am immersed in the plot as if it were the first time. It is one of my favorite books, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the crime investigation genre, as well as those who wish to delve into the past to better understand the present and the future.

He tenido el placer de leer esta obra al menos tres veces, y cada vez me sumerjo en la trama como si fuera la primera vez. Es uno de mis libros favoritos, y lo recomiendo fervientemente a todos aquellos que disfruten del género de la investigación policiaca, así como a quienes deseen adentrarse en el pasado para comprender mejor el presente y el futuro.
