Iniciativa: Un Logo Para Hive Aragua ǀ Initiative: A Logo For Hive Aragua

Greetings, dear friends of Sketchbook! Today, I am happy to share with you a new post, this time about an initiative to which I was invited by my friend @daniel2001 and in which I did not hesitate to participate. It is about the creation of a logo for the community of Hivers in Aragua.

My home state has many monuments and tourist sites of interest, which is why, when I started my creative process, I wanted the logo to reflect at least some of the most important ones, to create a sense of belonging between our state and Hive. I invite you to join me in the creative process.

I work in Photoshop CC 2018. To begin, I wanted to take the initials of the Hivers community in Aragua (H A), to which I placed a gradient in red with code ff0101 and yellow code fde305, in a normal blending mode, with a linear style at an angle of 53º and a scale of 53%. In addition, I placed a white stroke code ffffff, size 10, outer position and normal blend mode. I also wanted to add a relief with a depth of 105 pixels and a size of 32, plus a smoothing of 2%. These reflect the colors of our state flag.

The font style used is Choco Mellow Demo, which you can download for free here.

With both letters created and with the style I liked, it was time to add the monuments that fit within these letters. I chose 3, although my state has many more, these 3 are emblematic for me, as they are: El Toro de las Delicias, La Torre Sindoni and El Avion.

I wanted to give a touch to these three elements, so first I looked for photographs on the internet to which I removed the background and applied with the help of an app on my cell phone a caricature style effect.

The Toro de las Delicias is an icon for the people of Maracay, it was a gift received by Juan Vicente Gómez during his stay in the presidency, it is located in the northern part of the capital of the state of Aragüe, where I lived my first years of life. The redoma del Avión or Plaza in honor of the Armed Forces, reminds us that our state is the cradle of Venezuelan aviation. Last but not least, the great Sindoni Tower, a skyscraper located in the center of our capital city that with 125 meters high makes it the ninth tallest tower in Venezuela.

Once the elements were placed inside the letters, it was time to give a name to this logo, so the words Hive Aragua, is embedded in the middle of both letters in a white tone that allows it to stand out and accompanied by a parallel shadow.

Finally, to give unity to all these elements, I thought of creating a background wall and what better than using part of the logo of Hive, the house that houses so many hivers in Aragua, so I used a diamond shape, and added a brick texture in cement color.
