Hola amigos de Hive y Open Mic.

Hoy les presento una Quirpa, es un Joropo tradicional de la música venezolana.
José Antonio Oquendo, al que apodaban “QUIRPA”. Cuenta la historia que Quirpa era de apellido Quendo,con los años se transformó en Oquendo, hombre habilidoso en las coplas e interpretación del arpa, un día venía desde Achaguas, En el camino lo emboscó Pío Morales quien, tomándolo por sorpresa, lo mató a machetazos. También hay una leyenda de que le cortaron las 32 cuerdas del arpa con que viajaba e incluso las heridas del guitarrero (cuatrista) son producto de la imaginación y de las modificaciones de la historia al pasar de generación en generación ya que el arpa de Quirpa tenía 22 cuerdas. Dicen que en San Casimiro de Gúiripa, está el rancho de Quirpa.

El joropo es para el llanero, una forma de comunicarse y de expresar sus sentimientos ante propios y extraños, sabemos que desde El Fandango Español que llegó a nuestro país cerca de 1880. Y se arraigó en todo el país, específicamente en los estados Llaneros como son Guárico, Apure, Barinas Cojedes y Portuguesa y más allá de nuestros linderos en los cuatro estados llaneros del vecino país de Colombia. Y que tomó forma a través de los instrumentos que lo acompañan, y del proceso de socialización del hombre con su medio y con su gente. Esto permitió el surgir así los Cantos de la Sabana, a los Animales, a la Tristeza y a la Melancolía, al Amor de la mujer con Versos Libres y Sencillos.

En cuanto al acompañamiento de esta música primeramente se realizaba con Bandola, Cuatro y Maracas. Luego el Arpa que llegó a través del Río Apure Y del Río Arauca fue desplazando a la Bandola en algunas partes del Llano, más tarde se incorpora el Cuatro hijo de la guitarra renacentista y las Maracas que son verdaderamente un aporte de nuestra cultura aborigen. Estos instrumentos se han adaptado tanto con el transcurrir del tiempo, que el arpa llanera logra diferenciarse del arpa mirandina o del arpa de algunos otros lugares de América como México y Paraguay. En cuanto a las maracas ha adquirido una sonoridad bastante aceptable en el conjunto, tanto que no se vería bien una agrupación de música llanera sin maraquero. En cuanto al Bajo que es un instrumento eléctronico de cuerda fue lo último en incorporarse para mejorar la profundidad del sonido en los estudios de grabación.
