    About :

Good day brethren. Today, I am sharing with you lessons I learnt from the Mass Indoctrination Day 3 that held on zoom yesterday Thursday 24th June, 2021. Bro Eli taught about communication with God in prayer.

    • Firstly, he pointed out that the prayer of a sinner is an abomination to the Lord. It is therefore expedient to seek forgiveness, forsake and repent from all sinful acts, before making requests of God, so that He can hear us.

Proverbs 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is hateful and exceedingly offensive to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is His delight! (AMP)

    • Secondly, we must desist from vain repetitions when we pray. We should not be like the hypocrites.

When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! - Matthew 6:7-8 (NLT)

    • Another lesson is that prayer is made to God through Jesus Christ, without any intermediary in the form of rosaries, candles, incense, and so on.

    • Prayer is not to be offered in many words or it should not be attached to unnecessary vows or pledges. God's kind of acceptable prayer is one that is offered in few words, straight to the point.

Don’t make rash promises, and don’t be hasty in bringing matters before God. After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few. - Ecclesiastes 5:2 (NLT)

    How To Pray

    • Prayer must be offered in reverence to God. it is therefore important to follow the example of Jesus by bowing, kneeling, or prostrating as a sign of humility, and surrender to the Almighty.

Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed... - Matthew 26:39a

    • Another notable point is that a woman who is praying must have her head covered, as a symbol of honor to her husband, because she is made for the man. A man however should not cover his head while praying because he is a reflection of God's glory, and his head should not be covered, as a means of honour to God, who is the head of the man.

Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved. - I Corinthians 11:4-5 (NIV)
