En este episodio Nº 5 les traemos el interesante tema sobre "LA ANHEDONIA", que consiste básicamente en la pérdida de la capacidad de experimentar placer y disfrutar de las cosas agradables de la vida, tanto en el aspecto físico, como psicológico y/o social. Esto se expresa, por ejemplo, en perder el interés por la comida, el cuidado personal, las actividades sociales como fiestas, reuniones, paseos; la pareja y el sexo, entre muchas otras cosas.

In this episode Nº 5 we bring you the interesting topic of "ANHEDONIA", which is basically the loss of the ability to experience pleasure and enjoy the pleasant things in life, both physically, psychologically and/or socially. This is expressed, for example, in the loss of interest in food, personal care, social activities such as parties, meetings, walks, the couple and sex, among many other things.

A cualquier persona le pueden ocurrir malos momentos en la vida donde pierde el placer o disfrute de las cosas o actividades que regularmente le han gustado; pero ¿CÓMO SABER SI ES ANHEDONIA LO QUE SE ESTÁ PRESENTANDO? Pues bien, cuando una persona comienza manifestar el síntoma caacterístico de la Anhedonia (ausencia de placer) y éste persiste por más de 14 días, entonces se puede considerar que no es un episodio común y temporal sino efectivamente Anhedonia, y probablemente se trate del indicativo de un trastorno depresivo melancólico.

Every person can have bad moments in life where he/she loses the pleasure or enjoyment of the things or activities that he/she used to enjoy on a regular basis; but HOW DO I KNOW IF IT IS ANHEDONIA? Well, if a person begins to manifest the characteristic symptom of anhedonia (lack of pleasure), and this lasts for more than 14 days, then it can be considered that it is not a common and temporary episode, but that it is indeed anhedonia, and is probably indicative of a melancholic depressive disorder.

CAUSAS DE LA ANHEDONIA

Por ser éste un síntoma indicativo de la existencia de algún trastorno de tipo, por ejemplo, depresivo o ezquisofrénico, la Anhedonia es causada por los mismos factores que causan dichos trastornos; el funcionamiento del cerebro se altera y se bloquea, impidiendo que se generen las sustancias químicas como la dopamina y la serotonina, encargadas de causar sensaciones de placer y bienestar, afectando todas las actividades de la vida de la persona que lo padece. Entre los factores que causan la Anhedonia se encuetra también el uso indebido de sustancias químicas como las drogas.

TRATAMIENTO DE LA ANHEDONIA

Más que un tratamiento específico para la Anhedonia, el tratamiento que se prescribe por lo profesionales de la salud mental es el mismo que para cada uno de los casos particulares de trastornos relacionados con la depresión; esto es básicamente psicoterapia acompañada de los fármacos indicados como antidepresivos y/o antipsicóticos, según sea el caso para el tipo de trastorno que se esté presentando.

Rather than a specific treatment for anhedonia, the treatment prescribed by mental health professionals is the same as for each of the individual cases of depressive disorders; this is basically psychotherapy accompanied by the indicated medications such as antidepressants and/or antipsychotics, depending on the type of disorder presented.
