Tension is high;
World Powers are raging;
War cry is imminent!
Missiles have been fired;
The land is weaping!
Soldiers bid fare to their wives and children.
OH NO!!!
Please, I do not want war!
Please, I don't want to hear the devastating sound of guns, missiles and other forms of Mass destruction!
Please, I don't want to hear the cry of mourning!
Please, I don't want to become a refugee!
Please, wake me up from this slumber!
These phenomenal occurrences led me to deep and provocative thoughts.
THE WHAT IF THOUGHTS!
What if something happens, and I don't get to appreciate that friend who has done a great thing for me?
What if I don't get to appreciate that man or woman, boy or girl who has been of great help to me when many people despised me?
What if I allow malice and enmity to becloud my judgement of one good friend, and my eyes only get opened after his demise?
What if I allow myself to be swallowed by pride and I don't get to appreciate the lowly servants, maid or employees who work for me?
What do you think? Will they prefer the appreciation when they are dead, or when they are alive, no matter how small?
The thought was so deep!!! Considering how death has no regard for anyone.
In a bid to listen to some cool music via Audiomac (an online music platform) to calm myself... so that I will be calming down. I opened one of my offline playlists and I saw a song.
CELEBRATE ME by Patoranking.
This song just expresses my thoughts fully.
Here is an excerpt of the Lyrics.
If I fail, dem go laugh me
Na my mama na him baff me
Dem use excuse dey slap me
Same people, when I turn, dem go yab me
Alright
Tell me, tell me where dem dey
When I dey hustle, I dey try sustain
Every, every Saturday
From Ilaje down to Costain
Abeg, abeg no carry my blessing run
Today na you, tomorrow fit be my turn
Show me love, no go show me python
We be the same for Oluwa kingdom
So me say
Celebrate me, now when I dey alive
Appreciate me, now when I dey alive
No be say when I leave this life
You go dey fake am for my wife
Celebrate me, now when I dey alive
Appreciate me, now when I dey alive
No be say when I leave this life
You go dey fake am for my back
The song was sung in English and pidgin English, which is a general but unofficial language in Nigeria. This isn't the full lyrics, but this is an excerpt that clearly expresses my mind.
The message is 'on the need to appreciate someone when due, no need to wait for the person's death.'
You know that many people wait until someone dies before they start singing his or her praises. Then they may also give the person a "befitting" burial. Hmmm, but when he or she was alive they didn't give them a "befitting" life.
Some of them go to the extent of putting the dead in the HALL OF FAME, but when they were alive, they were in the HALL OF LONELINESSS.
WHO IS FOOLING WHO?
WHO ARE WE DECEIVING?
Ooo, I forgot to add this lyrics:
Gimme-gimme, wetin I deserve
If I suppose dey, no put me for reserve
No go wait 'til I kpai
Before you gimme meat pie
The message the singer is passing across here is: "Give me what I deserve, and don't wait till after my death before you give me what is due to me."
Strong message right?
Violence and war can make you a deep thinker, yunno!
Well, I also wantu use this medium to appreciate people who have made me who I am today; via my experiences with them and many other things.
I should begin by thanking Almighty God for all He has done for me, all He is doing for me and all He will continue to do for me π₯° I also appreciate Him for the gifts He bestowed on me. I continue to pray that He gives me the strength and grace to make positive impact with these gifts. Amen! π
I thank my parents for bringing me to this world, nurturing me and providing for my needs. I also appreciate my siblings for their continuous support to their younger brother. I'm blessed to have them!
I also thank my family people, my village people π π , my friends offline and online, and all those who consider me as an enemy π But I don't have enemies and I don't want to have. Well, I thank you all π
I continue to thank Emmanuel Popoola AKA GIFTED HANDS @starstrings01. Omo!!! I no go stop to dey thank you baba π Thanks for all you do, for bringing me to this lovely family and for seeing that I fit into it wella!
Meet my babies π₯² It's so sad I haven't named anyone yet. Hold a sec, you think I want to appreciate the musical instruments??? π π π
Well!
Each time I look at them, I always thank God for his graciousness and support to me and my music life.
The Guitar πΈ was given to me by a Close Friend and brother (Jerry Guitar) who knew I needed a guitar, after I stayed for about 5 years of learning guitar without owning a guitar π’
The Saxophone π· was also given to me as a gift from a good friend (Pharm Innocent). I started teaching him, but he became too busy with his Masters and other programs. So he gave it to me to help my music life.
I received both lovely gifts in the year 2020: The guitar was in the Month of February and the Saxophone was during the Covid-19 lock down. It is a Covid gift, a positive one π₯²
I bought the Camera Tripod stand as a fairly used item. Right now, one of the "legs" is bad π’
My NUX MG-200 GUITAR MODELLING PROCESSOR was sold to me at a cheaper rate by a friend of mine (Mr. Nnanna) in 2019. He got it and after about 2 weeks, he bought a better one. So he just gave it to me at N35,000 ($87) as compared to the N60,000 ($150) price he bought it. He also knew my financial situation, that I really couldn't afford to pay all at once. So he asked me not to worry, I can pay N5,000 ($12.5) every month till I complete the payment in 7 months. (Reduced price + instalment payment). IT CAN ONLY BE GOD!! no be small grace π’ I was speechless. That was how I got my effect pedal.
(All dollar rates are at the time of purchase = $1 = N400)
After paying for the first two months, he asked me if I was enjoying the Guitar effect. I told him, yes I am. But since I don't have a speaker, I just make use of my headphone to plug at the phone output section. (I can manage the little I have to produce something great) π He was shocked. And the following week, he shocked me by bringing the gift of a combo to me. The shock was shocking π π That was how I became a proud owner π of a Guitar effect and a Combo.
(I bought the small wireless microphone for my Saxophone)
I am indeed grateful to you all.
I AM BECAUSE YOU ARE!
What these 3 people had in common is that I shared the little knowledge I had in music to them without demanding a dime. (Well, I'm not saying people who charge fees are bad: everyone is different) π₯°
From this long story, the FACT is that THEY APPRECIATED MY EFFORT AND IMPACT ON THEM; AND NOW, THEIR APPRECIATION IS ONE THAT I CANNOT BUT CONTINUE TO APPRECIATE THEM ALWAYS.
Appreciation is Contagious! It is a desirable communicable infection.
To be honest, what I've gained from teaching people or sharing my musical knowledge with people, I don't think I would have gained so much if I collected fees from them.
I wouldn't have met @starstrings01 if I am not the way I am. And by extension, who knows, maybe I wouldn't have been on the Hive platform. I wouldn't have been in @music-community @openmic @espavlog @Splinterlands @psyberx @gaming-community @hive-naija and other communities and family.
But I am here, and I thank God for being here and for making me who I am.
I wish I can meet those who began the project Hive or those who thought of it. O, they deserve lots of appreciation!
