Hoy nuevamente les traigo un poco de historia de Europa a través de un juego de estrategia llamado Napoleón Total War, en esta oportunidad voy a salir de mi zona de confort y realizare mi primera batalla naval en el juego, cada batalla que subo a la plataforma representa la primera o segunda vez que juego esa batalla, es por eso que tal vez se note la inexperiencia en este tipo de gameplay, sin embargo hoy quiero traerles una batalla histórica que representa el final de las pretensiones francesas en territorio africano específicamente en Egipto. Hoy les traigo un gameplay de la famosa batalla naval del Nilo contra la poderosa flota de Gran Bretaña.

En entregas anteriores a esta serie original de batallas de Napoleón y su historia, presente la batalla de las pirámides, en donde el imperio francés pretendía bloquear financieramente a Inglaterra cortando el suministro de materias primas que iban desde India hasta Inglaterra, donde Egipto se convertía en una pieza clave para el comercio en todo el mediterráneo, es por esa razón que Francia envía a su talentoso general Napoleón Bonaparte a conquistar a los Mamelucos en tierras egipcias.

Destaco significativamente la importancia de esta expedición por parte del imperio francés debido al impacto que tuvo esta presencia militar en la historia de Egipto, donde se rescataron innumerables tesoros y monumentos enterrados en la arena, entre esos monumentos rescatados por Napoleón podemos mencionar la popular esfinge.

Reseña Histórica

Esta batalla ocurre del 1 al 3 de agosto de 1798 en la bahía de Abu Qir, a algunos kilómetros de Alejandría, la flota francesa comandada por el vicealmirante François-Paul Brueys D'Aigalliers, forman una posición claramente defensiva contra la armada británica liderada por El vicealmirante Horatio Nelson, el cual de manera audaz le hizo frente con su poderío naval al imperio francés para lograr terminar la campaña francesa en el mediterráneo.

En la batalla así dispuso los barcos Brueys para contrarrestar la llegada de Nelson y su flota, sin embargo es notable que el bando francés no esperara el ataque tan repentino.

En muy poco tiempo los franceses son rodeados por los buques británicos, estos disparan fuego a los barcos que no estaban preparados para la batalla, esto hace que el movimiento de la armada británica infringiera un gran daño a las pocas horas de haber comenzado el combate, la línea francesa se divide dejando aún más debilitada su posición haciendo que los barcos británicos pudieran tener el control de la batalla desde muy temprano.

Hay que destacar la capacidad marítima de Inglaterra para ese tiempo, mostraba una clara superioridad náutica en comparación a todas las potencias para entonces, la batalla del Nilo es una clara muestra de esa ferocidad en el mejor dominio de Gran Bretaña, los mares. Napoleón sabia de la superioridad de Gran Bretaña en el mar es por esa razón que nunca pudo invadir Londres, ante esta situación decide debilitar al imperio inglés, sin embargo en su búsqueda de un bloque económico pierde su dominio en el mar mediterráneo, sin embargo, así como lo hice notar anteriormente la campaña en Egipto es beneficiosa para toda la humanidad, dando a conocer más de su cultura milenaria.

En el Gameplay

Es la segunda vez que realizo una batalla marítima en Napoleon Total War, me gusta mucho más las batallas terrestres y sobre todo el modo campaña, sin embargo para seguir con la serie batallas históricas, no quise dejar de lado esta importante batalla que históricamente pierde el imperio francés, sin embargo, el juego se llama “Napoleon Total War”, así que esta batalla de juego la ganamos siendo el imperio francés.

Se puede apreciear en el gameplay que la formación de los barcos franceses es similar a la histórica, con la diferencia de que nosotros si estábamos preparados para enfrentarnos a Nelson, la primera instrucción fue subir la velocidad para lograr una posición favorable, sabía que si me quedaba en el mismo sitio me podrían rodear y sería una batalla muy corta para mis barcos, por esa razón coloqué mis barcos en una posición en la cual pudiera acorralar a los británicos.

Mi barco más fuerte el de nuestro vicealmirante Brueys, es rodeado por varios buques enemigos, en consecuencia mi línea de barcos es dividida, esto es aprovechado por los británicos, sin embargo, pude lograr una posición beneficiosa de la primera línea logrando así la rendición de varios barcos enemigos, nuestro barco más importante se rinde ante el asedio británico pero al acabar con sus primeros barcos obtengo superioridad numérica suficiente para hacerle frente a los barcos restantes.

Los ingleses intentan mantener mis fuerzas divididas y arremeter contra mis barcos más desprotegidos con una gran fueza, al resistir la embestida británica logro unificar mi flota, haciendo que la flota del vicealmirante Nelson se rinda, dando lugar a otra victoria ajustada.

La verdad me divertí bastante creando esta publicación, así es siempre, espero haya sido de su agrado.

A pesar de que Napoleón es derrotado en su pretensión de invadir la india británica, no desfallece y vuelve al combate, esta vez en tierra, lo cual veremos en el siguiente gameplay.

In the Gameplay

This is the second time I do a sea battle in Napoleon Total War, I like much more land battles and especially the campaign mode, however to continue with the historical battles series, I did not want to leave aside this important battle that historically the French empire loses, however, the game is called "Napoleon Total War", so this game battle we won it being the French empire.

You can see in the gameplay that the formation of the French ships is similar to the historical one, with the difference that we were prepared to face Nelson, the first instruction was to increase the speed to achieve a favorable position, I knew that if I stayed in the same place they could surround me and it would be a very short battle for my ships, for that reason I placed my ships in a position in which I could corner the British.

My strongest ship, that of our Vice Admiral Brueys, is surrounded by several enemy ships, consequently my line of ships is divided, this is taken advantage of by the British, however, I was able to achieve a beneficial position of the front line thus achieving the surrender of several enemy ships, our most important ship surrenders to the British siege but by finishing with its first ships I obtain sufficient numerical superiority to face the remaining ships.

The British are trying to keep my forces divided and to attack my most unprotected ships with great force. By resisting the British onslaught I manage to unify my fleet, making Vice Admiral Nelson's fleet surrender, giving rise to another narrow victory.

The truth is I had a lot of fun creating this publication, that's always the way it is, I hope you liked it.

Although Napoleon is defeated in his attempt to invade British India, he does not falter and returns to combat, this time on land, which we will see in the next gameplay.
