Greetings to all the users of Hive Blog, especially to the Hive Open Mic community! We are in the last hours of the 110th week of our worldwide event, where the theme Musical Embrace brings us together, a proposal of our friend @Eugelys, who sings well. To her I send a very special musical hug full of gratitude for achieving a very interesting and successful week for our space on the platform.

Laundry Service Album

In this opportunity I will interpret a song by Shakira, that despite having a little rough lyrics in its verses, I have always felt it as a hug, especially to understand the point of its message full of love. This piece of music is titled "May I Be Left With You" (Que Me Quedes Tú), and was included in her first English album released in 2001 "Laundry Service". I remember that it took more than a year after the album was released for them to turn this song into a promotional single, and yet it reached number one on the Billboard Hot Latin 100 and was one of the biggest Spanish hits of 2003.

Why did I say earlier that its verses are very rude? Well, the song describes the worst possible scenarios that could happen to the world and humanity, expressing that it doesn't care about any of this as long as "May I Be Left With You". In my opinion the message is very romantic, but put in wishes like: "let every last poet die today", even Shakira herself didn't want to sing this song again. She performed it at her moment of success at the Latin Grammy Awards in 2002, and never sang it live again because she is not satisfied with the message.

Even so, we have to accept that it is a great song that reminds us what an excellent songwriter this artist is and how great her songs were in the early 2000s. The guitar that sounds in this cover that I present today is the version of my friend Omar Escobar from @musicandreview. You can't imagine how grateful I am to you for this work that you have done especially to be interpreted in my record, A THOUSAND THANKS!. Nos encontramos en las últimas horas de la semana 110 de nuestro evento mundial, donde nos reúne la temática Abrazo Musical, una propuesta de la amiga @Eugelys, La Que Canta Bien. A ella le envío un abrazo musical muy especial cargado de mucho agradecimiento por lograr una semana muy interesante y exitosa para nuestro espacio en la plataforma.

Que Me Quedes Tú Single

En esta oportunidad interpretaré una canción de Shakira, que a pesar de tener una letra un poco ruda en sus estrofas, siempre la he sentido como un abrazo, especialmente por entender el punto de su mensaje lleno de amor. Esta pieza musical se titula Que Me Quedes Tú, y fue incluida en su primer disco en inglés publicado en el 2001 "Laundry Service". Recuerdo que pasó más de un año de publicado el disco para que convirtieran esta canción en sencillo promocional, y aún así llegó al número uno del Billboard Hot Latin 100 y fue de los éxitos en español más grandes del año 2003.

¿Por qué dije anteriormente que sus estrofas son muy rudas?. Bueno, la canción describe los peores escenarios posibles que le puedan pasar al mundo y a la humanidad, expresando que no le importa nada de esto siempre y cuando "Me Quedes Tú". En mi opinión es muy romántico el mensaje, pero puesto a deseos como: "Que se muera hoy hasta el último poeta", ni la misma Shakira quiso volver a cantar esta canción. La interpretó en su momento de éxito en los premios Grammy Latino del 2002, y más nunca la cantó en vivo porque no está conforme con el mensaje.

Aún así hay que aceptar que es una gran canción que nos recuerda lo excelente compositora que es esta artista y lo grandes que eran sus canciones a inicios de los 2000. La guitarra que suena en este cover que hoy les presento es la versión de mi amigo Omar Escobar de @musicandreview. No imaginas lo agradecido que estoy contigo por este trabajo que has hecho especialmente para ser interpretado en mi registro, ¡MIL GRACIAS!.
