I Hear America Singing from Venezuela | Eng-Esp | Escucho a América Cantando desde Venezuela

Musicians from more than 50 nations gathered in Venezuela for two weeks and the end result was a magnificent concert featuring the World Orchestra and the World Choir El Sistema; however, among the singers there was no participant from the United States of America, but we have not remained idle, since one of the personalities invited to this event was the famous choir director T. J. Harper, who although obviously has features of Asian descent is an ambassador of the music of his country U.S. in the world.

Músicos de más de 50 naciones se reunieron en Venezuela durante dos semanas y el resultado final fue un magnífico concierto donde se presento a la Orquesta Mundial y el Coro Mundial El Sistema; sin embrago entre los cantantes no hubo ningún participante de los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica, pero no nos hemos quedado de brazos cruzados, ya que una de las personalidades invitadas a este evento era el famoso director de Coros T. J. Harper, que aunque obviamente tiene rasgos de descendencia asiática es todo un embajador de la música de su país E.U. en el mundo.

We already had 9 days of rehearsals of the World Choir, and this piece of music was one of the least favorite of the choir, it lacked the nationalistic spark that the natives of North America put in their music, so the Maestro came to the rescue and ended up being one of our greatest hits with all the indications that he provided us. It was very nice that he was given the honor of conducting his country's piece, plus there is already a history between the Simon Bolivar National Choir and him, as we have shared several concerts together and in fact my first concert was conducted by him in 2017, so I also have a very special affection for him.

Ya teníamos 9 días de ensayos del Coro Mundial, y esta pieza musical era una de las menos favoritas del coro, le faltaba la chispa nacionalista que los nativos de Norteamérica le ponen a su música, así que el Maestro llegó al rescate y terminó siendo uno de nuestros grandes éxitos con todas las indicaciones que nos proporcionó. Fue muy bonito que le hayan otorgado el honor de dirigir la pieza de su país, además de que ya existe un historial entre la Coral Nacional Simón Bolívar y él, ya que hemos compartido varios conciertos juntos y de hecho mi primer concierto fue dirigido por él en 2017, así que también le tengo un cariño muy especial.

From 2016 to 2018 we had three workshops and important concerts for my group with the Maestro, but due to political issues in my country he could not return in 2019. Now after the fortieth and since "Venezuela is being fixed" 🙄 the same has been very complicated, since the Maestro has a very tight schedule between his choir in the United States and the amount of workshops and commitments he has around the world year after year, he is in great demand everywhere, since he is one of the best and most recognized. In spite of being such an important person, this great man is very humble and friendly, I remember he wrote me on facebook to give me his condolences for my dad's death (in English), even though we haven't seen each other for 5 years and I am just a simple tenor in a choir of 100 people in Venezuela. And when we met a week ago he also remembered the event and we hugged ❤️

Desde 2016 hasta 2018 tuvimos tres talleres y conciertos importantes para mi agrupación con el Maestro, pero por cuestiones políticas de mi país ya no pudo regresar en 2019. Ahora después de la cuarenta y desde que "Venezuela se está arreglando" 🙄 igual ha sido muy complicado, ya que el Maestro tiene una agenda muy apretada entre su coro en los Estados Unidos y la cantidad de talleres y compromisos que tiene en el mundo entero año tras año, es muy solicitado en todas partes, ya que es de los mejores y más reconocidos. A pesar de ser una persona tan importante, este gran hombre es muy humilde y amistoso, recuerdo que me escribió en facebook para darme el pésame por la muerte de mi papá (en inglés), a pesar de tener 5 años sin vernos y de que yo soy solo un simple tenor en un coro de 100 personas en Venezuela. Y cuando nos vimos hace una semana también recordó el suceso y nos abrazamos ❤️

I Hear America Singing, by André J. Thomas, a very difficult score to obtain, but our director did not rest until she did. The Maestro made magic with what we already had and gave life to the musical arrangement. One of our baritones, Johan Montenegro had the pleasure of playing the piano, he was already doing very well, but with some tips the sound improved twice as much. I convinced my friends to at least conduct the Philippine musical piece Rosas Pandan, my favorite and the first thing I sang in this group in 2017 being conducted by him and with my whole family in the audience, one of the happiest moments of my life. We were able to rehearse it, but we didn't do it with him in concert. I still got away with it 🤣

El Maestro hizo magia con lo que ya teníamos y le do vida al arreglo musical. Uno de nuestros barítonos, Johan Montenegro tuvo el placer de tocar el piano, ya lo venía haciendo muy bien, pero con algunos tips el sonido mejoró al doble. Convencí a mis amigos para que al menos dirigiera la pieza musical filipina Rosas Pandan, mi favorita y lo primero que canté en esta agrupación en 2017 siendo dirigido por él y con mi familia entera en el público, uno de los momentos más felices de mi vida. La pudimos ensayar, pero no la hicimos con él en el concierto. Igual me he salido con la mía 🤣

The video I have shared above is very special, it was the premiere of the Coro Mundial El Sistema last Saturday, being conducted by him in this American composition. On Sunday we sang it again in the second concert, but Maestro T.J. was no longer in Venezuela, but still all his indications were very present and again it was one of the most applauded by the audience. I have borrowed these images from the last News and from my musical institution that transmitted this event live to all the corners of the world. It was a very important concert, especially for Venezuela, and I know I've been talking about it for several posts, but you can't imagine the joy it feels to be part of something so big 💛💙❤️

El video que les he compartido arriba es muy especial, fue del estreno del Coro Mundial El Sistema el pasado sábado, siendo dirigidos por él en esta composición norteamericana. El domingo volvimos a cantarla en el segundo concierto, pero el Maestro T.J. ya no se encontraba en Venezuela, igual todas sus indicaciones estuvieron muy presentes y nuevamente fue de las más aplaudidas del publico. Estas imágenes las he tomado prestadas de últimas Noticias y de mi institución musical que transmitieron este evento en vivo para todos los rincones del mundo. Fue un concierto muy importante, especialmente para Venezuela, y sé que llevo varios posts hablando sobre ello, pero no se imaginan la dicha que se siente formar parte de algo tan grande 💛💙❤️
