Hello Hive World! The second day of the El Sistema World Congress was a great experience for me in many ways. Since Monday all the international guests have finished arriving, old friends and new wonderful people that come into our lives through music. Particularly I feel more solvent with the repertoire we are preparing for the final concert, I no longer have difficulty singing in Arabic or Greek ❤️ and although I finally mastered it, we no longer have to do the French piece 😍 definitely French and I are not friends.

¡Hola Hive World!. El segundo día del Congreso Mundial El Sistema fue una gran experiencia para mí en muchos sentidos. Desde el lunes han terminado de llegar todos los invitados internacionales, viejos amigos y nuevas personas maravillosas que llegan a nuestras vidas a través de la música. Particularmente me siente más solvente con el repertorio que estamos preparando para el concierto final, ya no tengo dificultad para cantar en árabe o griego ❤️ y aunque finalmente la dominé, ya no tenemos que hacer la pieza francesa 😍 definitivamente el francés y yo no somos amigos.

Although my rehearsals are directly in the work facilities of Maestro José Antonio Abreu, and we are surrounded by awards and old advertisements on the shelves and walls, I had never seen the Grammy award, I do not know if they have it at home or in some private part of his office, but this week it is in full view of everyone as I enter the National Center for Social Action for Music. You don't know how excited I was to see it, not only because it is a Grammy, something I never thought I would see in person, but because of all that this award represents for us as an institution, and it reminds me that right at this moment, the orchestra, my chorale and Maestro Dudamel are nominated for the Pepsi Music Awards in the Classical Music category. We are really doing a good job here and with the day to day life many of us do not realize the history we are making, but these weeks where my choir is world class we can appreciate it in the opinions, looks and feelings of our international colleagues.

Aunque mis ensayos son directamente en las instalaciones de trabajo del Maestro José Antonio Abreu, y estamos rodeados de reconocimientos y viejas publicidades en los estantes y paredes, nunca había visto el premio Grammy, no sé si lo tienen en su casa o en alguna parte privada de su oficina, pero esta semana está a la vista de todos al entrar al Centro Nacional de Acción Social por la Música. No saben cuanta emoción me dio al verlo, no solo por ser un Grammy, algo que jamás pensé ver en persona, sino por todo lo que ese premio representa para nosotros como institución, y eso me recuerda que justo en este momento, la orquesta, mi coral y el Maestro Dudamel estamos nominados para los premios Pepsi Music en la categoría de Música Clásica. Realmente estamos haciendo un buen trabajo aquí y con el día a día muchos no nos damos cuenta de la historia que estamos haciendo, pero estas semanas donde mi coro es de talla mundial podemos apreciarlo en las opiniones, miradas y sentimientos de nuestros compañeros internacionales.

In the exhibition is also available our certificate that in Venezuela is the World's Largest Orchestra, an achievement that we reached in November 2021 and was approved by the Guinness World Records Organization. In fact this week there is still talk of the future challenge of breaking the world record for the largest choir in the world, I still doubt it hehe, but in this company I have understood that dreams are not impossible, they can materialize. Many, many years ago, when we only sang as a hobby we had a concert in this place. It was only dirt and the skeleton of a construction that was just beginning. Today are the facilities of a world congress where there are musicians from all over the world making history and holding hands with Venezuela, because we are the example that will begin to be replicated in other nations.

En la exposición también está disponible nuestro certificado de que en Venezuela está la Orquesta Más Grande del Mundo, un logro que alcanzamos en noviembre de 2021 y fue aprobado por la Organización de los Récords Guinness. De hecho esta semana se sigue hablando del futuro reto que es romper el récord mundial del coro más grande del mundo, lo sigo dudando jeje, pero en esta empresa he entendido que los sueños no son imposibles, pueden materializarse. Hace muchísimos años, cuando solo cantábamos por hobbie tuvimos un concierto en este lugar. Solo era tierra y el esqueleto de una construcción que a penas comenzaba. Hoy son las instalaciones de un congreso mundial donde hay músicos de todo el mundo haciendo historia y tomados de la mano de Venezuela, porque somos el ejemplo que comenzará a replicarse en otras naciones.

Maybe my post will be read as a political propaganda, but it is not, I am writing from my heart because I love what I love. Notably music did not come to me through this artistic project, it is something I learned at home and inherited from my family, but the perseverance, discipline and the technical part I learned in El Sistema were the impulse to be a professional today and do what I love in my own country. Only 10 years ago I was still working in a human resources office losing a lot of time and earning to survive one more day, and today, although we still make an effort to survive day by day 😅 I feel total pleasure in my daily activities, for me this is not a job, it is pleasure, it is what I dreamed since I was a child and once I noticed that it could be done in my own country, although in another city, I set out to achieve that goal, and most importantly, God needed me in Venezuela to face together with my mom and my brother the accident and death of my dad. I don't want to imagine the trauma I would have had if I had not been here...

Quizás mi post se lea como una propaganda política, pero no es así, estoy escribiendo desde mi corazón porque amo lo que amo. Notablemente la música no llegó a mi a través de este proyecto artístico, e algo que aprendí en casa y que heredé de mi familia, pero la constancia, la disciplina y la parte técnica que aprendí en El Sistema fueron el impulso para hoy ser un profesional y hacer lo que amo en mi propio país. Hace solo 10 años aún trabajaba en una oficina de recursos humanos perdiendo mucho tiempo y ganando para sobrevivir un día más, y hoy, aunque seguimos haciendo un esfuerzo para sobrevivir día a día 😅 siento total placer en mis actividades diarias, para mí esto no es un trabajo, es placer, es lo que soñé desde niño y una vez que noté que podía realizarse en mi propio país, aunque en otra ciudad, me propuse a alcanzar esa meta, y lo más importante, Dios me necesitaba en Venezuela para enfrentar junto a mi mamá y mi hermano el accidente y la muerte de mi papá. No quiero imaginar el trauma que tendría si no hubiese estado aquí...

On the musical side, everything is already in place for our main concert of the World Choir. One of the guys from the Argentina delegation who is a choir director there is going to conduct the tango and he does an amazing job. As you can see in the pictures above, Maestro T.J. Harper is visiting us again to conduct the North American piece, and the lady is Maestro Ana Patricia Carvajal who is coming from Mexico and will work with us on her nation's musical piece. The Venezuelan piece will be Mata del Ánima Sola and will be sung by Tenor Cristo Vassilaco, and the solos of each nation will be done by the same boys from their countries in the company of some Venezuelans, such as the delegation from Colombia, Greece and Brazil, yes, the boys from Tunisia are in charge of singing their melodies by themselves hahaha, not so much for being in Arabic but for their hypnotizing way of interpreting it, which is not easy to disguise. At the end of the day, the Simon Bolivar National Choir gave a very beautiful piece of music entitled Entreat me Not to Leave to the international guests, a moment of many tears for all of us who really connect with the music. This is what you can appreciate in the video, although the contralto that recorded me was very close and the sound is very saturated, I apologize for that, but I didn't want to stop sharing the moment with you to complement my post. En la parte musical ya todo está calzando para nuestro concierto principal del Coro Mundial. Uno de los chicos de la delegación de Argentina que es director de coros allá va a dirigir el tango y lo hace increíble. Como pueden ver en las fotos de arriba, nos visita nuevamente el Maestro T.J Harper a dirigir la pieza norteamericana, y la señora es la Maestra es Ana Patricia Carvajal que llega desde México y trabajará con nosotros la obra musical de su nación. La pieza venezolana será Mata del Ánima Sola y la cantará el Tenor Cristo Vassilaco, y los solos de cada nación los harán los mismos chicos provenientes de sus países en compañía de algunos venezolanos, como la delegación de Colombia, Grecia ý Brasil, eso sí, los chicos de Túnez se encargan de cantar sus melodías ellos solos jajaja, no tanto por ser en árabe sino por su hipnotizante manera de interpretarlo, que no es fácil disimular. Al final del día, la Coral Nacional Simón Bolívar le regaló una pieza musical muy hermosa titulada Entreat me Not to Leave a los invitados internacionales, un momento de muchas lágrimas para todos los que conectamos realmente con la música. Es lo que pueden apreciar en el video, aunque la contralto que me grabó estaba muy cerca y el sonido está muy saturado, les pido disculpas por eso, pero no quería dejar de compartirles el momento para complementar mi publicación.
