Hello everybody on Hive and especially the PukoMundo Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from a work trip into the Karoo in South Africa! It was hot when I sang, but now the skies have opened up with a tremendous thunderstorm – the kind we don’t get in Cape Town! Good thing the recording part is done – the rain and thunder is much louder than the fan that was keeping me cool!

So I am in a lovely old-fashioned guest house with wooden floors – see if you can hear my foot keeping the beat on them as I play!

This is Week 53 of the “Singing Voice” or “La Voz Cantante” challenge – it’s my 4th time contributing!

My parents had a great CD collection of 60’s and 70’s music… and then my older sister took over and introduced me to 90’s music. The decade that I really seemed to miss out on growing up is the 80’s! Still, some music from that decade definitely suited my parents tastes so I didn’t miss out entirely. These exceptions included Tom Petty, Dire Straits, and today’s band – U2!

Let’s do one of their absolute classics from the 1987 Joshua Tree album, called “Where the Streets Have No Name” – I have tuned my guitar a bit differently to DADGAD. For some reason it makes me feel a lot closer to the original vibe of the song – do you agree?

¡Hola a todos en Hive y especialmente a la Comunidad PukoMundo! ¡Mi nombre es Jasper y te escribo (y canto) desde un viaje de trabajo al Karoo en Sudáfrica! Hacía calor cuando canté, pero ahora los cielos se han abierto con una tremenda tormenta eléctrica, ¡del tipo que no tenemos en Ciudad del Cabo! Menos mal que la parte de la grabación está lista: ¡la lluvia y los truenos son mucho más fuertes que el ventilador que me mantenía fresco!
