    About :

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa!

This is my 42nd week (In a row!) contributing to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 107 overall!

In all of my TTT entries I like to play the songs on guitar (or similar in this case!) as well as share the original videos... and I have a newish pattern for "Three Tune Tuesday" where I pick three songs by one of my favourite artists, that has inspired me - as I also write original songs.

This week I would like to pick Creedence Clearwater Revival, the awesome country-blues-rock band that was fronted by John Fogerty in the late 1960s and into the 1970s!

The first song I'd like to do is the lesser known song with almost lullaby-like lyrics - "Cotton Fields" - For my version, I think it would be cute to use my toddler daughter's ukelele with a bit of prestik (tic-tac / the white stuff that sticks posters to the wall) to mute the strings to give it a bit more of an old-timey, nearly banjo vibe! (What could be more country than being rocked to sleep in the cotton fields?) Here is the original:

Next, let's do something of theirs that is well known, especially the opening chord sequence! "Proud Mary" is about a river-boat in the deep South, how much more country can you get? Here's the original:

Finally, probably my favourite of theirs - their version of "Midnight Special". The Midnight Special was a train that would pass a prison in the night and be a symbol of freedom to the in-mates (hmmm, that's also pretty country!) Apparently this is an adaptation of a traditional song. There is evidence of similar lyrics as far back as 1905, and Lead Belly the famous blues-man used to do a version in the 1930s and 1940s. I add a bit of harmonica to challenge myself! Here is the original:

So that's week 107 done and dusted! I hope you enjoyed the Creedence Clearwater Revival songs! Which song was your favourite? Did I miss an important one to you? (Fortunate Son? Stuck in Lodi?)

And so, which artist will I do three covers of next week, for TTT number 108? I hope you tune in to find out and thank you so much for clicking/watching/reading this time!!
