I have continued with my workouts trying to increase distance and subtracting time from the routes. What I enjoy the most is the ascent to the mountain but I can't do them very often because of the tension it produces in my knees, a matter that I must not neglect.
My intention is to maintain the activity and I must permanently make adjustments to avoid any type of injury as much as possible. The ideal for me would be to do routes of only ascent, since it is in the descent where my knees suffer.
So a few days ago I designed a new route for my urban circuit, one that suits me very well because I only do it in the uphill direction and the truth is that in this route I have felt no discomfort of any kind.
To do this route I have to go down to the starting point, usually I do it by public transportation or with a ride that a friend gives me. The route to my house is four kilometers long and the positive difference in altitude is a little more than one hundred meters, as if I were climbing a building of more than thirty floors, not bad for the resistance it requires.
In the video I told them that I might have to adjust the route to be able to cover the goal of four kilometers, but then the training program confirmed that it was exactly four kilometers.
The route is not the one I like the most because I have to run on a busy road and I prefer quieter environments. But the important thing is to be able to maintain the training while minimizing the possibility of injury, and this route is the most suitable.
For the moment I'm sticking to this distance of four kilometers, and after a few months I'll try to increase it a little more.
So far I have been able to maintain the routine of two days of climbing the hill, two by this route of four kilometers and another two by an intermediate route where I can also do the four kilometers that I have set as a goal.
Remember: the important thing is to maintain constancy and for this it is essential to stay injury free. At the first sign of pain you have to take the necessary measures, if you have to rest, then do it. If you have to slow down or reduce the distance, do not hesitate to do so. Sometimes the body takes its time to reach the level we want.
This course is not as attractive as the mountain course but if you can, try to watch the video.
Thanks for your time.
