Got my second vaccination shot the other day. There were rumours that the side effects from shot #2 were worse than the first, but so far so good. I couldn't sleep at all that night, and saw 4:30 am for the first time in a long time apart from occasionally waking up for a wizz in the night. The day after I was pretty tired but other than that I'm as normal as I was before. So hopefully that's me not down with the sickness.
I used to do a lot of running and I picked songs based on BPM. I'm not a huge metal fan (if you call this metal) but for some reason this song made it onto my mp3 player I'd head out with. Even though it had the same BPM as other songs on the list it would always up my overall pace. It was funny looking at the GPS data after a run and you could see the song splits, same cadence, different paces.
A lot of this kind of music is pretty dark. I was watching a doco about metal a while ago and remember them talking about how often death is the subject matter and how different ages look at death differently. A young man almost sees it as a challenge as opposed to a 60-year old who is getting closer to the pointy end. There is an age somewhere in your 40s I reckon when you start to think about these inevitable a bit more.
Regardless of the subject matter this song has a sweet riff. The tuning is C#, which I found out is Eb standard with a drop D on top. Not as exotic as I thought. There's no solo, but a breakdown in the middle with some odd lyrics that were taken out of the backing track that I had (not by me, they just weren't there). Something about being beaten up by your mum and then killing her... delightful.
So while not really my 'cup of tea', it's a great song to fire you up and fun to play.
Enjoy!
