Feliz inicio de semana, saludos @Hiveio, @threespeak y @Fulldeportes. Con cariño los saluda @frankrey11 recordándoles que mi post estará escrito en español y traducido al inglés para la comodidad de todos los lectores. Por eso ahora sin más preámbulos hagamos un viaje para conocer la historia del nacimiento y evolución del Taekwondo.

El Taekwondo como arte marcial, nació en lo que hoy conocemos como Corea del Sur luego de que terminara la ocupación Japonesa en la península de Corea. El Taekwondo fue fundado en la década de 1950 por el General Choi Hong Hi quién tomó movimientos del Karate Do, de donde provienen la mayoría de las técnicas de golpes de puño y de mano abierta que en el Taekwondo se usan y de hecho el General Choi se vio influenciado en muchos otros aspectos del Karate Do, que incluyó para dar forma a su arte marcial. El elemento más llamativo del Taekwondo que son sus distintivas patadas provienen es su gran mayoría a otro arte marcial coreano más antiguo aun, llamado Taekkyon.

El Taekwondo se vio en unos juegos olímpicos por primera vez en las olimpiadas de Seúl 1988 como un deporte de exhibición y no fue si no hasta el año 2000 que se convirtió en un deporte de competición oficial en los juegos olímpicos de Sidney.
Del Taekwondo se conocen dos estilos:
Estilo de la Federación Mundial de Taekwondo o W.T.F por sus siglas en inglés, es el que todos conocemos como deporte olímpico y de este estilo podemos resaltar que no se permiten los golpes de puños a la cara y que se practica con una gran cantidad de protectores corporales por lo que es muy fácil distinguirlo.
Estilo de la Federación Internacional de Taekwondo o I.T.F por sus siglas en inglés, que se caracteriza por apegarse más al Taekwondo tradicional, a ese arte marcial creado por el General Choi. También es necesario decir que para este estilo están totalmente permitidos los golpes de puño a la cara y no se necesita tanta protección a la hora de competir.

So now without further ado let's take a trip to know the history of the birth and evolution of Taekwondo.

Taekwondo as a martial art was born in what we know today as South Korea after the end of the Japanese occupation of the Korean peninsula. Taekwondo was founded in the 1950's by General Choi Hong Hi who took movements from Karate Do, from where most of the fist and open hand striking techniques used in Taekwondo come from and in fact General Choi was influenced in many other aspects of Karate Do, which he included to shape his martial art. The most striking element of Taekwondo, which is its distinctive kicks, comes mostly from another even older Korean martial art, called Taekkyon.

Taekwondo was first seen in the Olympic Games at the 1988 Seoul Olympics as an exhibition sport and it was not until 2000 that it became an official competitive sport at the Sydney Olympics.
Taekwondo is known in two styles:
Style of the World Taekwondo Federation or W.T.F for its acronym in English, is the one we all know as Olympic sport and of this style we can highlight that the blows of fists to the face are not allowed and that it is practiced with a large number of body protectors so it is very easy to distinguish it.
Style of the International Taekwondo Federation or I.T.F. for its acronym in English, which is characterized by sticking more to the traditional Taekwondo, to that martial art created by General Choi. It is also necessary to say that for this style, fist blows to the face are totally allowed and not so much protection is needed when competing.
