Tropical Mockingbird (Mimus gilvus)

The mountain paraulata or tropical Mockingbird (Mimus gilvus) has a very beautiful song, but here most of the time we can only hear it.
Unlike the llanera paraulata (Turdus nudigenis), it does not get very close to the houses, but rather comes to sing early or at sunset, keeping a certain distance.
It can learn to play the song of other birds or the melody that we teach it if it is in captivity. It feeds on seeds, fruits and arthropods.
They are monogamous and, when they nest, both parents help feed the chicks, sometimes also with the collaboration of the offspring born from other clutches.
It lives in Central America and northern South America, where 10 subspecies can be found.
I recorded this short video with my cell phone, one of the few times it was seen up close. Here I show them hoping you enjoy.

La paraulata montañera o Sinsonte tropical (Mimus gilvus) tiene un canto muy bello, pero aquí la mayoría de las veces solo podemos escucharla.
A diferencia de la paraulata llanera (Turdus nudigenis), ella no se acerca mucho a las casas, sino que llega a cantar temprano o al atardecer, manteniendo cierta distancia.
Puede aprender a ejecutar el canto de otras aves o la melodía que nosotros le enseñemos si se encuentra en cautiverio. Se alimenta de semillas, frutas y artrópodos.
Son monógamos y, cuando anidan, ambos padres ayudan en la alimentación de los pichones, a veces también con la colaboracion de los hijos nacidos de otras nidadas.
Vive en Centroamérica y norte de Sudamérica, donde se pueden encontrar 10 subespecies.
