Hola, ¿qué tal comunidad de Education? Espero que se encuentren de maravilla y con muchos ánimos de aprender el día de hoy un tiempo verbal que es muy sencillo y que sin darnos cuenta quizá lo usamos más comúnmente de lo que parece. Estoy hablando nada más ni nada menos que del presente continuo.

Hello, how are you, Education community? I hope you are feeling wonderful and in the mood to learn today a verb tense that is very simple and that without realising it, perhaps we use it more commonly than it seems. I am talking about nothing more and nothing less than the present continuous.

Quiero aprovechar para recordarles los errores más comunes que uno como estudiante comete a la hora de aprender este tiempo verbal y el presente simple.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the most common mistakes that one as a student makes when learning this verb tense and the present simple tense.

Generalmente confundimos ambos tiempo y es común ver errores del tipo –he is play football- sin agregar el gerundio –ing. U en otro caso, escribimos –he playing football- sin utilizar el auxiliar o confundiendo un presente simple con uno continuo.

Generally we confuse the two tenses and it is common to see errors such as -he is playing football- without adding the gerund -ing. Or in another case, we write -he playing football- without using the auxiliary or confusing a simple present with a continuous one.

Estos errores se dan más que nada por el hecho de que ambos son tiempos presentes, pero podemos ser capaces de identificar cuando estamos en presencia de uno o de otro por las palabras claves. Una vez que se aprendan estas palabras claves que son fáciles y pocas, será muy difícil que continúen confundiéndolos.

These errors are mostly due to the fact that they are both present tenses, but we may be able to identify when we are in the presence of one or the other by the key words. Once you learn these keywords, which are easy and few, it will be very difficult to continue to confuse them.

También otro error común es utilizar los auxiliares equivocados, por ejemplo, she doesn’t dancing en lugar de she is not dancing o she is not dance, a simple vista parecieran estar bien, pero queda bastante feo a los ojos de cualquiera.

Another common mistake is to use the wrong auxiliaries, e.g. she doesn't dancing instead of she is not dancing or she is not dancing, which at first glance seems fine, but looks quite ugly to anyone's eyes.

No se preocupen si los confunden al principio, es parte del aprendizaje, yo incluso sigo aprendiendo y a veces se puede escapar el gerundio o pronunciar el auxiliar equivocado pero como siempre digo, no es necesario decir todo 100% correcto, sino que la otra persona entienda el contexto de la conversación.

Don't worry if you get confused at first, it's part of learning, I'm still learning and sometimes you can miss the gerund or pronounce the wrong auxiliary but as I always say, it's not necessary to say everything 100% correctly, but that the other person understands the context of the conversation.
