    About :

The year 2022 starts unexpectedly special! Today, the third day of the year provides us with the magical number 3. Why magical? Well, check this post. Also, today I was able to get the footage to a long-overdue remake of the famous movie "The Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock.

Alfred Hitchcock: The Birds - Movie Trailer

Those who've seen the original movie, know the by Alfred 'designed' birds are pretty angry. Why they are angry, is something I don't recall anymore. As far as I can remember, I've watched this movie something like 3 decades ago {the magical 3 again}. But maybe it's like 4 decades ago {darn: no 3 here}. Probably it's somewhere in between. I was still in high school at the time which was in the 80s of the previous century.

    Anyways...

In my remake, I did things totally different. I don't like angry birds, so I transformed them into a bit nicer ones. I don't like dark birds, so I did cast some more colourful ones {difficult to see due to light conditions, but they are mostly green}. The positive side effect of my actors is the more friendly sounds they make when speaking, playing and enjoying.

I am so fortunate a group of these amazing little creatures decided to come to one of their most favourite trees in the city in which I live, the city of Amsterdam. To top my fortune, this tree is just in front of my bed (and living) room windows. In spring they sometimes wake me up. Or better said, I wake up when they are singing. But even when they wake me up, am always pleased, since I love the sound of singing parakeets. Gives me the feeling of being in some tropical place, enjoying some chill vacation.

    Unexpected...

Those of you who have some knowledge of my country, know we don't have a tropical climate at all. Bordering the North Sea, we mostly enjoy a very mild climate with lots of rain. Summers with something like 20 to high 20 degrees Celsius and Winters with something like -5 to +5 degrees Celcius. Not the best climate for these beautiful creatures to live in. How they came to Amsterdam is a big mystery. Though it could be just an act of nature, some believe our local colony of parakeets evolved from escaped parakeets held as pets in captivity in peoples homes. Others believe some rich peeps flew in a bunch of them to give them a new home in the public spaces of Amsterdam, a present to the peeps in the city. Many of them are found in our own Central Park, "The Vondelpark". This park is kinda around the corner of 'my' tree, just one block away, a long-ish block, but one block {something like 1000 meters?}.

    Winter?

Since Amsterdam is located in the northern hemisphere, we are in the winter season right now. You may ask yourself: "Why are these birds not hiding in some place where they find some warmth?" Well, because the weather gods decided to change everything this winter. I think they decided it is about time to fool around with the Dutch. Since the beginning of this year, we experience spring-like weather. Temperatures at the end of the night of about 10 degrees Celcius and like 15 to 18 degrees {yes, again Celcius} in the afternoon. To top it all, no rain, but blue skies. Perfect conditions for these little creatures to explore and enjoy some chill time in 'my' tree.
