It was a lovely way to start a new year, taking my first walk of 2022 on our shore and through our field and wood. I'm always finding inspiration for drawings and art projects along my way. Today was no different with the amazing puffballs , a fungi that grow around here in our salty sandy shore.
These amazing alien looking flower shapes are called the False Earthstar they are similar to the Earthstar fungi found in the UK, tho are not of the same species.
Astraeus hygrometricus it’s latin name, refers to it’s being Hyrgroscopic which means it reacts to mositure in the air and thus living on the seaside.
I also saw a glut of wonderful Holly berries, as holly love our acidic soil and the wonderful and edible choke Berry (the blue berry looking berry at the end on the shrub on the beach) not to be confused with the choke Cherry, also found in our area.
It was a lovely day out and I'm rather looking forward to the new year and hoping to up my game here on #3speak as well as posting more often on #hive as well, both good resolutions I believe.
