Si hay un artista del folclor venezolano que logro inmortalizarse en la memoria de varias generaciones de su tierra natal, este es sin duda alguna el jocoso, alegre y ocurrente Simón Díaz. Este hombre quien con su esencia folclórica traída desde los llanos centrales de Venezuela, dejó plasmada en varias obras de la música que compuso toda su esencia y con ella los dichos, mitos y ritos que en el llano venezolano aún se viven y en esta canción llamada "mi querencia" la cual para mi tiene una connotación especial quiero contarles una historia de lo que vivo cada vez que la escucho.

If there is an artist of Venezuelan folklore who has managed to immortalize himself in the memory of several generations of his native land, it is undoubtedly the jocular, cheerful and witty Simón Díaz. En Venezuela las radios transmisoras nacionales tienen la tradición de que en altas horas de la madrugada colocan música del folclor venezolano, la cual siempre asimile a como empezaba el día, como me empezaba a relacionar con la mañana y que me hacía sentir muy orgulloso de la riqueza cultural-musical de mi país. Especialmente esta canción me recuerda mucho a los olores que podía percibir en las mañanas particulares que viví en el estado Mérida y que me recuerdan mucho a las hermosísimas vivencias que tuve con mi familia y a las labores del campo que aunque ya no ejecuto puedo recordar la sensación de todas y cada una de las experiencias que tuve la oportunidad de vivir.

In Venezuela the national radio stations have the tradition that in the wee hours of the morning they play music of Venezuelan folklore, which I always assimilated to how I started the day, how I began to relate to the morning and that made me feel very proud of the cultural-musical richness of my country. Especially this song reminds me a lot of the smells that I could perceive in the particular mornings that I lived in the state of Merida and that remind me a lot of the beautiful experiences I had with my family and the work in the field that although I no longer perform I can remember the feeling of each and every one of the experiences I had the opportunity to live.
