    About :

"A Journey Into The Movies" or "The Great Movie Ride" was the centerpiece of Disney/MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios), one of the Disney parks in Orlando, Florida. It opened on May 1st 1989 which was opening day of the park. It closed on August 13, 2017 and it was apparently the last original attraction that had been there since day 1. It has since been replaced by Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway.

I guess I can understand why they closed this one. It wasn't exactly a thrilling ride or particularly appealing to kids. However, it always had a line (when I was there anyway) and it made for a nice, air-conditioned break on a hot summer's day. The Great Movie Ride featured scenes from various classic movies and used a combination of animatronics and live actors. I don't really know exactly why they closed it but I suspect it may have had something to do with licensing, at least in part. Not all of the movies featured were owned by Disney.

This video was recorded during the ride on May 15th, 2004.
