    Hello Hive Fam!

I had so much fun working with Adrianna at Cypherglass to make this video! To celebrate Halloween... or HallowEOS... we present to you, "The Spooky Side of EOS" where we dispel some of the biggest myths surrounding the EOS blockchain.

    Myth#1 - EOS is Centralized

The Myth - that the EOS network only has 21 block producers in total.

The Truth: The EOS network has over 500 registered block producers all competing to be in the top 21 nodes. The election is held approx. every 120 seconds, where all EOS votes are tallied and reflected. The top 21 block producers at any given time are responsible for maintaining the network transactions, while the remaining standbys are paid as well. So if you want to get a little more insight into how this all works, you can visit bloks.io to see live rankings and transactions, but also learn how to vote for your favorite block producers as well.

    Myth#2 - EOSIO vs. EOS

The Myth: All EOSIO networks are controlled or connected to EOS

The Truth: EOS is a decentralized public blockchain network. Anyone can access or interact with the network, there are no permissions needed other than an account.

So what is EOSIO? It is the open-source blockchain software developed and maintained by Block.one.

EOSIO networks like WAX, Telos, and Ultra are built on EOSIO, however have no connection to the EOS network as far as governance and node operators are concerned. They are independently operated with their own style of dpos governance.

Myth#3 - EOS is the ETH killer

So where did this myth come from? Well, honestly… incorrect information. Even though it’s true that EOS focuses on some of the main issues that have plagued the Ethereum network such as scalability and cost… EOS and Ethereum have vastly different consensus algorithms, and so even though some positioned it as the “ETH killer - the two networks in fact work very differently from each other and offer different solutions to the cryptocurrency eco-system.

I hope you enjoyed this video and I hope you all have a Spooktacular Halloween!

    XO, Lea
