This is a short demo of the Melbourne Town Hall (Australia), Hill, Norman & Beard organ. The sounds have been sampled by the company, Inspired Acoustics. The trial sample set allows you to use six pre-selected combinations. As you will be able to tell from the video, I have chosen to demonstrate the "Tutti". It's not full organ, but still gives a rich sound. I am told by many of my Sydney organist friends that they still much prefer the Sydney Town Hall organ. Perhaps it's a case of capital city rivalry?
Whilst I'd like to own the full version of this sample set, I think it's not beneficial for me at this time as I only have a two manual instrument and cannot exploit the full capabilities of it. Plus, I think that having an overwhelming number of registers tends to leave the organ without a defining character. I haven't played the Melbourne Town Hall organ in person, so it's good to get a little idea from this sample set. You might also like to have a listen to my friend, Edwin Kwong, playing the MTH organ a few years ago.
Yours truly,
