Although Gulab Jamun is not originated in India, it has become a popular Indian dessert. It came from Persia which is now known as Iran.
Why it is called Gulab Jamun is still a mystery as Gulab means Rose flower and Jamun is a berry fruit. Both ingredients not used to make this dessert.
It is a non-vegan dessert prepared by using condensed animal milk and fried in animal fat called ghee.
To make it vegan I replaced animal milk with thick coconut milk and fried in vegetable oil.
