This year Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated under the shadow of COVID19 pandemic. There was no public celebration. People celebrated their own.
Modak(It is a sphere-shaped sweet originating from the Indian subcontinent.) are considered to be favourite of Lord Ganesha so devotees prepare modak on this auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi.
I too prepare Modak! There are various types of Modak prepared in different parts of India. I prepared Bundi Modak( Bundis are small pearl shape made of gram flour). bundi soaked in sugar syrup and made balls out of that.
Ingredients required
Gram flour 2 cups
Water for batter 1.5 cup
Sugar 1.5 cup
Water to make sugar syrup 3/4 cup
Cardamom Powder 1 tsp
Melon seeds 1 tbsp
Procedure
Please watch this video for complete procedure.
This dessert is prepared using animal fat like ghee but I made it vegan by replacing ghee with vegetable oil. I used Rice Bran oil but any other refined oil can be use for that.
This dessert is very delicious yet economical, as the main ingredients used are gram flour, sugar and vegetable oil. All these ingredients are easily available everywhere.
This my entry for @ecoTrain Simple Vegan Cooking On A Budget Month.
