The Waterfalls Of Maspie Den - Falkland - Scotland

Hi Folks

This afternoon I took a walk through the woodland trails of Maspie Den on Falkland estate here in Fife to photograph some of the waterfalls.

This estate is one of my favourite local areas for taking photographs. We start our walk from the pond by the old gatehouse...

This path goes past an unfinished building known as Crichton Stuart Memorial Chapel.

The building was started in 1912 by renowned Scottish architect Reginald Fairlie but was abandoned in 1915 after the death of Lord Ninian Crichton Stuart. Members of the Crichton Stuart family are buried within the chapel.

Heading further along the trail we can see the centre for stewardship, the HQ of the estate rangers. There is also a craft centre here and a lovely outdoor café called The Stables.

This creepy looking old house was once a stately mansion house but is now a school for behaviourally challenged kids.

Im not sure what this little hut is ,I think it was built by a local artist who comes here to sit in nature and paint.

These woodlands have many impressive moss covered stonework's and bridges...

Due to the heavy rainfall this bridge has been partly washed away...

The path goes through the hillside via this spooky old tunnel...

This is the first of 2 waterfalls on this trail.

At the top of the trail we have this impressive waterfall which we can walk under...

Heading back down the trail we noticed this huge tree root that has subsided due to the rainfall...

We passed The Stables café at around 3:30pm ,they are open until 4 so we took refuge from the rain under their heated marquee...

Tea and cake before heading home...

You gotta love their woodland animal tablecloths...
