Bloody Spell Is A Bloody Good Game! - Asian Martial Arts Action Rpg With Slick Stylish Combat!

Last week I made a post taking about 5 games I picked up in the recent Lunar New Year Steam Sale.

One of those games is called Bloody Spell. This game was released on Jan 26th and is still currently available at a discounted price until February 10th so I figured I would give you guys a quick first impression of it.

The story is pretty simple.10 years ago Yeijin and his younger sister were abandoned by their family and taken in by a martial arts monastery where they have lived and practiced ever since.

Right at the start of the game we can choose to play as Yeijin or his sister by selecting what skin we want for the character model.

There are a ton of cool skins to choose from like this Taoist Tai Chi Priest outfit...

Some of the sisters costumes are kind of revealing... there are dozens of cosplay opportunities in here...

You can change the skin at any time making this a pretty cool game for recording footage and making gifs. Especially when we get used to flowing between different fighting styles and weapons but more on this later.

In the Elegant Red Dragon New Year Dress our character looks like a deadly assassin. I went with this skin for most of the video above.

As we start the game the monastery is under attack by a demonic legion...

Its up to us to send the demons back to hell. We start out with the ability to jump ,use a combo of heavy and light attacks and throw daggers.

Those red orbs that are obtained as we kill enemies are used to cast "Bloody Spells" - demonic Dark martial arts magicks...

As we progress through the game we unlock new bloody spells which can be assigned to the left ,down and right buttons on the D pad for easy activation. The up button on the D pad is used to switch between weapon styles or between one weapon and Bare Hand Kung Fu!

The more we use a certain type of weapon the more proficiency we gain with that weapon. These proficiency points are used to purchase special moves.

By combining Bloody spell demon Magicks and special moves we can get some crazy looking combos!

By the end of the first training stage we have access to all the weapon types apart from the Halberd.

We can have 2 weapon types equipped at once and we flow quickly between them by pressing up on the D-pad.

When we switch to a new weapon we automatically attack with it. If we have the Executioners Cleaver equipped I found on good strategy is to jump in the air then switch to the Cleaver coming down hard with a powerful blow...Its fun to use this to smash objects...

Large green chest's can be found throughout the stages ,these restore large amounts of health.

The environment's in the game are really well designed.

The Demonic enemy models are also really well done.

That's pretty much all I have to say for this first impression's post. So far I LOVE this game. I am a huge fan of old Kung Fu movies and all things ancient China in general.

Bloody Spell looks fantastic , I cant wait to see more of the outdoor and temple levels, I really think they have done a great job with the visual's here.

I've been missing playing Ghost of Tsushima recently. I haven't even powered my PS4 up in over a year. I've been waiting for an Asian themed martial art game to come along for the PC for a while and I think this is it.

The combat system is fun, fluid and stylish with plenty of new moves to acquire and combine for some stunningly cool combos....My favourite so far is the combo of Dual Blades and straight up Kung Fu kicks.....This girl fights like Chun Li from Street Fighter but WAY deadlier :)...

Gif by me - Our girls Kung Fu Fighting is fast as lightning...and a little bit frightening , but she fights with expert timing!

So in closing ,I'm going to give Bloody Spell a solid 9/10.If you love a good action rpg and Kung Fu movies ,check it out, its on sale until Fen 10th.
