Hey Open Mic Family
This is my song for HIVE open mic week 90.
Im going with "A Spaceman Came Traveling" by Chris DeBurgh.
Its a lovely little Christmas song which Ive been learning recently.
When I released this weeks theme is "unwillingness to evolve" I thought if there are space travelers out there we here on earth probably seem like we have an unwillingness to evolve.
We hold on to traditions that are 2000 years old, and this time of year that is most apparent.
So thats basically how Im tying "A Spaceman Came Traveling" to this weeks theme.
I have edited the video to some of the new Christmas decorations we have aquired this year.
I hope you guys enjoy another festive themed song from me.
"A Spaceman Came Traveling"
Chris DeBurgh
A spaceman came traveling on his ship from afar
'Twas light years of time since his mission did start
And over a village, he halted his craft
And it hung in the sky like a star, just like a star
He followed a light and came down to a shed
Where a mother and child were lying there on a bed
A bright light of silver shone round his head
And he had the face of an angel and they were afraid
The stranger spoke, he said, do not fear
I come from a planet a long way from here
And I bring a message for mankind to hear
And suddenly the sweetest music filled the air
And it went la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la, la la la la la la la la la
Peace and goodwill to all men and love for the child
This lovely music went trembling through the ground
And many were awakened on hearing that sound
And travelers on the road
The village they found by the light of that ship in the sky
Which shone all around
And just before dawn at the paling of the sky
The stranger returned and said, now I must fly
When two thousand years of your time has gone by
This song will begin once again to a baby's cry
And it goes la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la, la la la la la la la la la
And the song will begin once agian to a babys cry
And it went la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la, la la la la la la la la la
And the song will begin once again to a baby's cry
I want to thank every one who voted on last weeks post to raise
funds for @chaste-music.I especially want to thank @cabelindsay for his very generation donation and for pinning that post to the top of the open mic community.
In total we are going to have around $250 to send to @chaste-musics family this week which is going to be a huge help to them.
To say thanks Ive added a bonus song to this video, "Good King Wenceslas"
This traditional carol tells the story of Saint Wenceslas heading out into the harsh winter weather to give alms to a poor peasant.
I feel this last line of the 5th verse is particularly relevant here.
"Therefore, Christian men, be sure,
wealth or rank possessing,
Ye who now will bless the poor,
shall yourselves find blessing."
I hope all of you have had a good Christmas.Take care of yourselfs and those around you.God bless! :)
"Good King Wenceslas"
Good King Wenceslas looked out,
on the Feast of Stephen,
When the snow lay round about,
deep and crisp and even;
Brightly shone the moon that night,
tho’ the frost was cruel,
When a poor man came in sight,
gath’ring winter fuel.
“Hither, page, and stand by me,
if thou know’st it, telling,
Yonder peasant, who is he?
Where and what his dwelling?”
“Sire, he lives a good league hence,
underneath the mountain;
Right against the forest fence,
by Saint Agnes’ fountain.”
“Bring me flesh, and bring me wine,
bring me pine logs hither:
Thou and I will see him dine,
when we bear them thither.”
Page and monarch, forth they went,
forth they went together;
Through the rude wind’s wild lament
and the bitter weather.
“Sire, the night is darker now,
and the wind blows stronger;
Fails my heart, I know not how;
I can go no longer.”
“Mark my footsteps, good my page.
Tread thou in them boldly
Thou shalt find the winter’s rage
freeze thy blood less coldly.”
In his master’s steps he trod,
where the snow lay dinted;
Heat was in the very sod
which the saint had printed.
Therefore, Christian men, be sure,
wealth or rank possessing,
Ye who now will bless the poor,
shall yourselves find blessing.
Good King Wenceslas looked out,
on the Feast of Stephen,
When the snow lay round about,
deep and crisp and even;
Brightly shone the moon that night,
tho’ the frost was cruel,
When a poor man came in sight,
gath’ring winter fuel.
