Hello there, my fellow musicians and music lovers!

We are back on the stage of the #openmic after a week of studies and workshop duties. This is week 163 and I come with a piece for the theme "Hopeful". A week ago, I shared this post talking about the beauty of sharing music overseas and having the Venezuelan Cuatro be in the eye of other cultures.

Today, I have finally recorded this cover of the Japanese song Furusato (Motherland) by composer Teiichi Okano. This arrangement was by made by master Luthier Yasuji D'Gucci and shared by email after a brief conversation. I'm hopeful this version will be interesting for anyone who listens to it. Needless to say, I have to keep studying it to make it a song of my repertoire, but challenging myself to do this is important to keep furthering my skills as a Soloist Cuatro Player.

There are many version of this song online. I can't pinpoint which one is the original. But it has lyrics and sounds like a lullaby. The time signature didn't change in this arrangement as it keeps it's 3/4. It's in the key of G major. There's passages where it modulates to it's minor relative (E minor).

It is a beautiful song. And it also marks the return to audio editing since I have a laptop and can do a little more work to have better sound quality in my videos. Something I had been missing since May of last year.

I hope you enjoy my version of this song. The new angle is an experiment. I'd like some feedback on it. Be sure to leave a comment regarding that display.

    Cover Semana 163

Déjame tu comentario y dime si te gusta o no.
