Hello my dear friends of the Full Deportes community and this wonderful Hive platform!!! I hope you are having a great day!
Today I come to share with you a trekking I did a couple of weeks ago here in Mendoza, in the department of Las Heras. We climbed with a friend the famous Cerro Arco. This is a hike that I have done before, but it had been more than two years since I had done it.
The Cerro Arco is well known because it is used to train for different disciplines: cycling, running, even for those who are in the army. The thing is that the slope is very steep, so it is a nice challenge.
Just to give you an idea of what you will be seeing, this is a fairly arid area, with very little vegetation.
The rains in Mendoza occur in summer and are short but intense, so there is not a good water supply. This makes it very passable in autumn, winter and spring, but in summer, it is very important to calculate the schedules, since the descent should be done at 10 am at the latest, due to the strength of the sun. Likewise, it can also be climbed in the afternoon, when the temperature decreases a little.
They have made a trail on this hill, so you can walk very quietly without much difficulty. You just have to pay attention to your heart rate, which may accelerate if you are not used to physical activity.
Although the summit is at 1600 meters above sea level, one must consider that one begins the ascent from approximately 850 meters, which is where Mendoza is located. In those 750 meters that are ascended, the walk is 9 km long, because it is bordering the hill on this dirt road.
I wouldn't say there are too many. It is very common to see people stopped trying to breathe on the steep slopes of the section (there are two particularly steep slopes that require slowing down).
From other trainings I have done, I suggest that when climbing a hill like this, you keep a slow and sustainable pace, not wanting to challenge yourself if you are not used to this.
On the slopes, I am not in favor of stopping, but I think it is better to keep moving, but do it as slowly as possible, so as not to generate so many changes in heart rate.
As you can see, many people run downhill. This is not recommended, unless it is training for runners, because if there is no knowledge of the anatomy of the body and there is no listening to it, you can injure your knees when running down a hill like this.
This, as you can see, is a workout that is primarily aerobic in nature. However, by having to be climbing constantly, the muscles of the whole body are activated, especially those of the legs and buttocks, so it translates into a type of training that has a positive impact on the whole body, while purifying the lungs and working on the expansion of lung capacity, because you can really feel these organs very active in the ascent. The good thing is that it is a place that has very little influence of the polluting air of the city, so you can breathe a rich pure air.
The mind is also benefited by the silence, the contact with nature, the calmness of the road, and the beautiful views that are presented along the trail, the last one being the most beautiful, which presents the entire city of Mendoza in front of the viewer.
