Bear Sanctuary - Romania

In 2021 I had the luck to visit the Libearty Bear Sanctuary, he largest reserve of brown bears in the world, located in Zărnești, near Brașov (Romania).

We were in a refugee inside the forest, protected by strong glass, watching a couple of brown bears (a male and a female) eating some food the guardian has prepared for them.

In this park there are almost one hundred bears.
In Carpazi mountain range, there are six thousands wild bears!

Sometimes they raised their heads to smell the eventual presence of other bears around them.

We had to stay very silent, speaking soft, because of bears are very sensitive and they could have recognized us under the glass.
The refugee (a wooden room) was safety, but bears are very big and the can be very aggressive. Even if they live peacefully in their ambient, one of them, some years ago, has reached a village nearby, and it killed some people (after that, it was sadly killed).

This park has been created to take away bears from captivity. In fact they were usually confined in small cages, living a cruel life, just for fun for restaurants, factories, circuses and so on, in other terms they were used only as tourist attractions.

To walk alone in this forest is obviously very dangerous, so we reached the refugee with a guide, who takes with him a gun.
We could not talk, and also walk softy, avoiding any noise.

In the wood there were also thirteen wolves and three lynxes (in august 2021).
We stayed a lot to watch them eating, and they ate all the time.
