I began this video with a smooth win using the Traxler countering th Fried Liver attack of my opponent, giving me a 1,065 rate only four points below my ATH ELO, the problem is, after that game, I went on to lose three games in a row while tieing one in between.
I ended up this video with a 1,039 rate. I know, shameful and disapointing but, if you look at the bright side - and I will explain what happened in the videos in case you don't feel like watching them - all the loses are somewhat "to remember" because I didn't lose that hard.
The first game lasted a few moves, the Traxler is indeed a huge problem to deal with, I don't even understand why people at this level still go for the Fried Liver. The Fried Liver is a kids' trick and a strategy of low rated players, why would you still try to use it against 800+ rate players? No idea. Anyway, I won that game easil even though I made the mistake of moving Qf6 instead of Qh4 and I could've lost the game, luckily my oppononet wasn't familiar with the Traxler.
For the second game I was kicking my opponent's ass with a Queen's Gambit accepted and in the middle game I had a +4 advantage, but I blew it all up by blunderinga pushed pawn to f4 instead of preparing a discovered attack with my Queen, then my opponent responded with a brilliant move and the analysis moved to -5... how funny the advantage can be lost, analyzing the game it can easily be noticed how I overlooked better ways to play.
The third game didn't go differently, in this position I had a +3.7 advantage and I managed to blow it up - I blame the video recording and lack of focus - into a totally 0.0 game.
The fourth game which ended on a tie, was again only like that because of my lack of self control during the middle game, losing an advantage of 4.7:
The opponent forked me, I lost my minor piece advantage and after the blow I went on to lose my positional advantage as well, the good thing is, I managed to recover from a -5 position and draw the game... yeah that's the good news, for a game I had in my pocket.
The fifth game is just stupid, but you will have to see for yourself.
In the end, I think I have to change my approach towards these games, I've been practicing a lot and I believe that next week I will be sitting comfortable at +1,100 ELO.
See you guys next week, have a great remaining of the weekend!
