    Jute leaf is common among the Yoruba's in Nigeria that's why they call the leaf ewedu. Jute leaf is green in color, grow tall, it has a seed that is usually use to replant for a new leaf. Jute leaf can be regarded as class of draws because of it draw in soup. Jute leaf is commonly in use for soup preparation, stew, thickening of foods, salad, and more. The leaf is also medicinal meaning it serve different health purposes. Jute leaf is among the oldest soup cooking leaf in Nigeria and it's also very cheap to afford.

    A lot of people who fails to see how good jute leaf can be to the body makes the leaf common and affordable to those who eat them. Only a few people who eat this leaf understand the health contribution and will continue to enjoy the meal made by the leaf. I'll state it categorically that a lot of farmers no longer value the planting of jute leaf because some of them feels that people don't value the leaf because they feel it's an old leaf. They prefer the planting of pumpkin leaf Ugu, eggplant, green leaf, waterleaf, garden egg to jute leaf.

    Most of the oldest leaf like jute leaf contribute a lot to our health to the leaves mostly preferred by people. Jute leaf is rich in vitamins and minerals thereby helping the boosting of immune, helping the brain to fight diseases, and more. Information has it that jute leaf fight stomach problems and it's fast in healing. The same information also has it that if a woman in labor and the baby refuses to come out, jute leaf can be squeezed and filtered then given to her. In short minutes, the woman can deliver through the help of the jute leaf given to her.

    How to plant jute leaf

    Jute leaf can't be planted by its stem or stick but only by it seed. Only the seed of jute leaf can germinate and grow when planted.

    To grow jute leaf seed for planting, a farmer must be willing to allow already planted jute leaf to grow old. Old planted jute leaf usually produces jute seed. The seed is usually green in color when not mature for planting but when mature for planting, the seed usually turn brown.

    If a farmer plug a mature jute seed, she'll have to allow the seed to dry properly maybe through sunning or normal wether condition.

    A farmer will need to cultivate a land, open the soil and then pour three to four seed of jute seed, cover the soil. Water can be poured to it morning and evening.

    Jute leaf seed can also be planted only pouring them to a cultivated soil without soil covering. Water can only be poured the the cultivated land areas, then the jute seed can be poured and allow to germinate on its own.

    Sometimes an already jute leaf farm, can keep producing jute leaf every year without the farmer making effort of planting new ones. The already seeds that fell to the ground when jute leaf was growing and producing seeds.

    Best planting season for jute leaf

    Jute leaf best season is usually in raining season. The leaf grows very well through its freshness and tallness. In raining season, a farmer will keep harvesting much of jute leaf without having rest.

    During harmattan or dry season, jute leaf usually dies because they can't survive the hot weather conditions. Except if the farmer will keep supplying steady water to the farm.

    How to cook jute leaf soup

    Jute leaf soup can be prepared in different ways according to tribe, state, and country.

    To cook jute leaf, I usually cut the leaf, wash it with water, use a knife to cut the leaves through slicing.

    Before cutting the jute leaf, I'll first make sure I put water on the fire. I'll add ingredients including red oil, stock fish, dry fish, beef meat, onion, maggi, pepper, salt, and more.

    I'll allow the ingredients I add to the put to boil very well. I'll add the jute leaf I sliced to the pot of soup.

    Allow to boil for some minutes, I'll use turning soup to turn the soup by making sure all the ingredients and the leaf are mixed very well. My soup is ready.
