The 2022 SPS Road Map was very insightful for helping us understand how the team would drive value to the token this year. But there was a tiny bit of information that I believe has much larger implications regarding the other Splinterlands token - DEC.
With the announcement of RIftwatchers being available solely via SPS, we also found out that the team plans to potentially restructure DEC and drive value to it after the airdrop ends in July. Restructuring the tokenomics would bother many in the community including myself, and I don't think the team plans on doing that despite how their post was worded. If anything, I would expect them to find ways to drive value and utility to DEC with all of the other features upcoming such as land, modern format, and maybe other game types.
This will be much needed as with DEC going back to it's peg, the overall ranked battle rewards pool will dry up to only $1000 per day (as opposed to $225,000 when DEC was at $0.015. While we don't know yet how they will drive value, the comments in the post have me feeling optimistic about the outlook of DEC once the airdrop ends. There is no reason to let the token fall off completely so I'm confident whatever comes next will make it worthwhile and hopefully drive value to the token to keep it above it's peg.
All of this is speculation of course, so not financial advice!
