    Éste servidor que viene a interpretarles "Banana Boat Song" con mis compañeros del Ensamble B11. Agrupación juvenil que se ha encargado de proyectar los ritmos Afrovenezolanos de manera vocal a través del beatboxing.

    Ensamble B11:

    El Ensamble B11 Es un agrupación conformada por 9 jovenes no mayores de 25 años Manejado por su directora Belkys Figuera, cantante profesional y docente de la Institución Bigott. Jovenes que se dedican a proyectar la música tradicional de Venezuela a través del beatbox y con instrumentos nativos. Interpretamos y simulamos de manera creativa la batería de tambores fusionando diversas formas musicales de raíz tradicional con ritmos caribeños.

    El ensamble, un proyecto de emprendimiento que creció dentro de los talleres de "Fundación Bigott" formandonos de distintas maneras, la curiosidad abundaba y con mucho ánimo de aprender. Nace de una propuesta de jóvenes que querían combinar la música urbana con la música popular apróximadamente en el 2014 / 2015. Varios de nosotros teníamos mucho feeling con el Hip-hop(rap) y nos daba curiosidad particularmente el "BEATBOX" (Forma de sonido vocal que se basa en la capacidad de producir ritmos de cualquier tipo).

    Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)

    El tema de Banana Boat Song, lo incluimos dentro del repertorio Venezolano, por la historia que representa. La época de la esclavitud, el trabajo duro, dejando claro que ésta canción es un reggae y la adaptamos a nuestros ritmos de raíces antillanas como lo es el Calipso del Callao. Género que más allá de expresar alegría en los carnavales y diversión, también representa protesta, lucha por los mineros y toda la expresión cultural de la Localidad.

    Historia de Day O (Banana Boat Song)

    Canción escrita por jamaiquino que fue popularizada por Harry Belafonte en 1956, nos relata que unos trabajadores después de haber cargado un barco de Bananas, (cambur, platano) durante la noche esperan el pago para regresar a sus hogares, a su vez expresa que mientras trabajaban tomaban fuerzas con el licor (Ron) para continuar con sus labores diarias.

    Belafonte grabó la canción para RCA Victor y esta es la versión más conocida por los oyentes de la actualidad, ya que alcanzó el número cinco en las listas Billboard en 1957 y más tarde se convirtió en la canción más emblemática de Belafonte. Fue utilizada en

    This server who comes to interpret "Banana Boat Song" with my colleagues from Ensamble B11. Youth group that has been in charge of projecting Afrovenezuelan rhythms in a vocal way through beatboxing.

    Ensemble B11:
    The Ensamble B11 is a group formed by 9 young people no older than 25 years old, managed by its director Belkys Figuera, professional singer and teacher of the Bigott Institution. Young people who are dedicated to project the traditional music of Venezuela through beatboxing and native instruments. We creatively interpret and simulate the drums, fusing diverse musical forms of traditional roots with Caribbean rhythms.

    The ensemble, an entrepreneurial project that grew within the workshops of "Fundación Bigott" forming us in different ways, curiosity abounded and with a lot of encouragement to learn. It was born from a proposal of young people who wanted to combine urban music with popular music approximately in 2014 / 2015. Several of us had a lot of feeling with Hip-hop (rap) and we were particularly curious about the "BEATBOX" (vocal sound form that is based on the ability to produce rhythms of any kind).

    The Banana Boat Song is included in the Venezuelan repertoire because of the history it represents. The time of slavery, hard work, making it clear that this song is a reggae and we adapt it to our Antillean roots rhythms such as Calipso del Callao.
