The mysteries of the vote weight multiplier

The vote weight multiplier is a feature of tribe tokens. It is a very useful but somewhat hard to explain tool. In the video I give a shot at trying to explain the vote weight multiplier in an easy and understandable way. I hope I succeeded :-).

What is the vote weight multiplier?

On hive you can give 10 upvotes per day at 100% voting power and after 24 hours your voting power will be replenished again. You can set for each tribe token on hive-engine a specific vote weight multiplier.

Let's say I set a vote weight multiplier of 5 for POB. This means that my hive votes will be multiplied by 5 if I vote on a tag with the #proofofbrain tag. Let's say I give a 20% upvote on Hive this will mean that I will give a 100% upvote on POB. If I give a 100% upvote on Hive, even with a vote weight multiplier of 5, I will give a 100% upvote on POB. It's not possible to vote with more than 100% in any case.

Why can the vote weight multiplier be useful?

It can come in extremely handy if you want to curate several hive-engine tribes. Thanks to the vote weight multiplier you can curate a very big amount of tribes without running out of voting power with a single account.

For our example, we set the vote weight multiplier for all the tribes that we want to curate to 50. We now go to the different front-ends and we give upvotes of 2%. Each time I give such an upvote I give a full upvote in the tribe token but only a 2% upvote in Hive. This allows me to save Hive voting power while curating tribe tokens.

How to set vote weight multipliers

You can set your vote weight multipliers in leodex under rewards. Next to the stakable tokens you have a kind of lightening sign that allows you to set the vote weight multiplier.

I have also developped a tool with @blainjones that allows you to do that in a very easy way. You can check with this tool the vote weight multiplier of any account and of any hive-engine tribe token. You can also set new vote weight multipliers.
