This is a complex song with more progressions and demanding tempos. But that makes it even more beautiful. Alís Cruces always has a way to get the best out of these songs from Venezuela tradition. This song by Simón Díaz isn't the exception. Even though, the solo is a didactic tool to help newcomers to the playstyle get their bearings into the many chord changes, it shines with rich voicings.

Lyrics of this song talk about Mariposa, a cow, who now has a calf. There's some implications about the animal hidding its offspring because of the cruel destiny of the cattle. However, nature seems to favor this creature and receives it with its arms wide open in scenes of greenery and crystaline rivers. The idea of giving a name to a farmstead animal isn't weird around Venezuelan plains. Tonadas are tunes sung to cow to get milk from them. It is supposed to sooth the animal and help the whole process. Many of these songs are about cattle. Others, tend to talk about the plains, children and more topics. The latter is what you would call a work tune something similar to railroad songs, miner songs and similar songs. This means that in essence these are sung with no more than the sounds around taking on the function of accompanient.

The 5/8 time signature makes the piece more complex, but there's a certain freedom implied in this version. I hope you find it interesting and enjoy it.

Creo que la clave de aprender una pieza es tener otra para mantener las cosas interesantes. Por lo tanto, aquí está una versión más fluida de El Becerrito de Simón Díaz. Pueden escuchar el ensayo aquí.

Esta canción es más compleja con su progresión de acordes y tempo. Eso la hace más bella. Alís Cruces tiene el ingenio para resaltar la belleza de las canciones venezolanas en sus solos. Aunque el solo es una herramienta didáctica para ayudar a los solistas que están empezando entender cómo moverse entre los acordes, se destacan las voces de la melodía.

La letra de esta canción habla sobre la vaca Mariposa y su ternero. Como este animal sabiendo de la suerte que depara a su cría, la escode. También hay imágenes sobre la belleza del llano en respuesta a una nueva vida. Las Tonadas como esta son caciones que suelen cantarse a las vacas durante el ordeño. Y la idea de ponerle nombre a los animales como estos no es rara en los llanos venezolanos. Estas melodías se utilizan para tranquilizar al ganado durante varias cosas que se pueden hacer con él. También son cantos de faena similares a las canciones de ferrocarril, mineros, marineros y otros oficios. Esto significa que las versiones originales de estos cantos no tienen más acompañamiento que el sonido del trabajo.

La medida de 5/8 aumenta la dificultad de la pieza, pero la libertad del solo compensa esto. Espero que mi intento sea de su agrado.
